Hi everyone. This is a post that that we never like posting. It is with great sadness and very heavy hearts that we have lost a dear and valued member of our club and community. Deb Columb passed away unexpectedly on April 10th. Deb was an avid snowmobiler and was willing to ride anywhere from Yellowstone National Park to Canada. She was a lifetime member of our club and was very active in any events we had for fundraisers. She was always helping with trail work up until she couldn’t do as much anymore, but even then, she would still show up and do little things but mostly for moral support. If anyone knew Deb, she was quiet and small in stature but she was also very feisty. She also had quick witted comments and a great sense of humor. We will definitely miss your presence Deb. Until we meet again, watch over us and make sure you’re riding along with us on the trails! 🙏🏻❤️

Hi everyone. After last nights meeting, we have agreed to stop grooming our trails and to shut them down. All the other clubs around us have made that decision as well. I know some people will say there is still plenty of snow out there to ride on and in certain areas there may be, but a lot of our trails go over landowners property, some of which include fields which are used for haying and income and food for their livestock. Out of respect for them, we would rather shut down now and not damage their properties. We will start closing gates and puting up snow fencing during this upcoming week.
With that being said, we would like to thank all of our landowners for allowing us to use and access their land to help us connect our trails to other towns and be able to enjoy our winter sport. We know without your generosity, we wouldn’t have many, if any, places to ride. We thank you again.
Next, we would like to thank all the businesses in town that sponsor and support us in so many different ways. Again, without your support, we wouldn’t have some of the funds to get us through the expenses of grooming and maintaining equipment.
Last but not least, I personally want to thank every member of our club. You endure the countless hours of getting and keeping our trails brushed back and made safe in pre season for everyone to enjoy when we finally get snow and then go out and try to groom and keep them smooth for everyone. You volunteer your time and expect nothing for it.
We have finally had a decent year for riding this season but unfortunately it started late and is quickly coming to an end. Thank you to all that have ridden our trails and have complimented us on their conditions. We can always use more help and more members to make some of this easier. It’s never too late to join our club. I know you would enjoy the comradery and the fun.
Until next season, thank you all again!

Just a reminder to all our members that we have a meeting this Saturday March 7th. Board members meet at 5:30, followed with a pot luck dinner at 6. Regular meeting starts at 7. This meeting will include the nomination of officers for next season. There are several positions open and if you feel like you would like to run for one of our already filled positions, please feel free to put your name in. As always, anyone who is not a club member that is reading this, we are always looking for and welcome new members. Come check us out and see what we’re all about. We are a friendly group and I’m sure you would have fun. Hope to see you all there.

So this is how our season has been going all year. Needless to say, we’ve been doing more repairs than grooming. We’ve been doing the best we can. Unfortunately, this truck is done for the rest of the season. We will try and continue grooming with the rest of our equipment but it is starting to get sparse so if you’re on the trails, take it easy and don’t rip them up cause at some point there won’t be anything we can do to smooth them out. One other note, if you are riding towards the Nature Conservancy, stop going around the culvert. The ice is getting soft and that hole is a minimum 6ft deep. Also, the landowner where all the posted signs on the one side doesn’t want anyone on his property even though only the width of a sled is going on it to get around the culvert. He has contacted the Warden service and said he will press charges. You should be able to get through that small bit of water. Anyway, be safe and enjoy it while it lasts. Hi everyone. I wanted to send out a heads up to anyone riding snowmobiles over in the Lake Arrowhead area. Last night we had a groomer break down just after the small bridge while heading towards the bridge on the main road by the dam. We had to leave it overnight last night. We went back first thing this morning and got it off the trail and out to the main road. We crossed the bridge and made a turn around by the boat launch ramp by the dam and were planning on getting it back to where we keep it on Lords Road. Unfortunately, another track decided to come apart. Right now, the truck is sitting close to the road pretty much in the trail. There is plenty of room to go around it and it is visible with cones around it. Hopefully we can get the track fixed and get it moved probably late tomorrow. Just wanted to make everyone aware. Thank you for your patience. Right now we are down one groomer until we get parts to repair the first track that broke.

Hi everyone. Just sending out a trail update. We spent this past Sunday and yesterday(Monday) grooming all of our trails in both directions from the clubhouse. Amazingly with what snow we have, the trails are in pretty good shape. That being said, there are rocks and possibly some stumps still exposed so please take it easy so you don’t end up wrecking yourself or your equipment. We are hoping we get the snow they say is coming tonight. Every little bit helps at this point. I would like to ask if you are out riding after this storm before we get out there with equipment again, if you could stay to the right side of the trails to help keep the snow in the middle of the trails so we have something to work with. We don’t have the ability to pull snow off the side of the trails to fill them in. Anyway, enjoy it while we have it and ride safe and ride right.

Hello fellow Mountaineers! I hope you have all had a healthy, safe and enjoyable summer. It is now that time of year that we start planning and hoping for a decent snow year, so we can enjoy the sport we love. Please join us for our first meeting of the season on Saturday, September 6th. We would like to start having our dinner meetings as we have had in the past. For this meeting, I think we should just do a potluck dinner. Please bring a shared meal if you can, or a desert of some kind. With that being said, board members will meet at 5:30, dinner at 6:00 and member meeting at 7:00. We still have several board positions to fill to help take the load off people doing double roles. If you know of anyone looking to join the club, please encourage them to join us. I'm sure we will have lots more to talk about. I look forward to getting together and seeing you all again! Take care!
Kevin

Nominations for board members will be one of the topics. We have several positions open. If you know of anyone that would like to join the club, please invite them and bring them. Anyone who follows us, please stop in and see what it’s all about. We could really use more members and help. Hope to see you all there. Kevin

ATTENTION to any and all snowmobilers who might follow us on this site. We were grooming trails tonight but unfortunately, our groomer that was doing the North end of town had a track come off. The groomer is off the trail as far as we could get it, but it is still about half way in the trail. We will be heading out in the morning to try and get it out of there, but until then, please be careful and aware that you will probably encounter it. The trail it is on is what we call Brian’s trail. This trail is the one that takes you out towards the dam in Lake Arrowhead and Limerick. Please be careful and we’re sorry for the inconvenience.

Got the trucks out today for a little shakedown grooming to see how they were gonna run. Groomed the trail behind clubhouse towards Newfield. Didn’t do all the way as I didn’t have much time. Our other truck was heading towards Lake Arrowhead but didn’t get far cause the 4 wheel drive wasn’t working. Got it back and found and hopefully fixed the issue. Not sure if we’ll get out until after the next storm. What we did seemed to come out good. Please be patient with us and we’ll get out and get them back in shape. Could really use more snow to make them better.

Just wanted to send out an update on what’s going on with our trail system. Three of us took out our 3 sleds without the drags this past Friday just to pack them down and evaluate the conditions of the trails. We only did the north route from across the clubhouse and went all the way to the dam in Arrowhead. We were pleasantly surprised to see that they weren’t to bad and that was before this storm. Sleds had already been on the trails but we had to check them for ourselves. Obviously we will say our trails are officially open. We should definitely be in good shape after the next storm coming this coming week. I would recommend that you still ride like it’s early season or late season as there are still some rocks in places. Unfortunately the snow we’ve gotten has been light and fluffy and doesn’t pack as hard. We will more than likely be attempting to do some panning this coming week to flatten them out some but we still need more snow to actually drag and fill in bumps. On another note, I wants to address a couple trail situations. The trail that runs beside Townhouse Road is not a trail for snowmobiles. You can use part of it to get to the lake but that is as far as we will grooming it. We made a new trail with permission from Doug Foglio to use his gravel pit to get to the trail that takes you out towards Lake Arrowhead, Limerick and Hollis. We also got permission from the landowners that have built along Townhouse Road to use the back edge of their property. We did this so sleds wouldn’t be crossing their paved driveways and marking them up from picks and carbide runners. We had to remark this trail today cause sleds were going that way. Please follow the signs. One other thing I want to warn people about is the trail that goes out to the Nature Conservancy towards Newfield has open water running across the culvert that is out in the middle of the heath. The culvert got plugged and we didn’t get to it in time to unblock it due to all the trail cleanup and bridge repairs this fall. We will do our best to try and groom that way but if it gets to much of a drop, we might not be able to do much with it. Please ride with caution out that way. I know this was a long update but wanted you all to be aware. It’s been awhile since we’ve had good weather in our favor and everyone is itching to finally ride. Ride safe, ride right and ride smart. Have fun everyone. Kevin Haskell - club president
