📢 Q2 Community Meeting Recap: AuSable Township Project Updates

The township reported receiving nearly $9 million in grant funding over the past five years, helping advance infrastructure, recreation, and community improvement projects that benefit residents and visitors alike.

📢 Q2 Community Meeting Recap: Community Development Tools & Resources

MEDC shared several programs designed to help communities strengthen planning, redevelopment, and investment readiness.

Topics included Redevelopment Ready Communities (RRC), placemaking, community revitalization programs, redevelopment tools, and strategies that help communities position themselves for future investment and growth.

Strong communities don't happen by accident—they are built through planning, collaboration, and local leadership.

📢 Q2 Community Meeting Recap: Match on Main Success Stories

MEDC highlighted the impact of the Match on Main program across Northeast Michigan, including investments right here in Iosco County.

The Cities of East Tawas and Tawas City both received a FY25 Match on Main award supporting local business growth, joining other communities throughout Region 3 that are leveraging these funds to strengthen downtown districts and support entrepreneurs.

Programs like Match on Main continue to demonstrate the value of investing in local businesses and community development.

📢 Q2 Community Meeting Recap: Business Resources & Entrepreneur Support

Attendees heard from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) about programs available to help businesses start, grow, and invest in Michigan.

From business development incentives and capital access to support from the Michigan Small Business Development Center (SBDC), there are a variety of tools available to entrepreneurs and employers throughout our region.

Develop Iosco works closely with state and regional partners to help connect businesses with these resources.

👏 Look at the room! 👏

Last night’s Develop Iosco Q2 Community Meeting & BBQ brought together representatives from more than 40 organizations and businesses serving Iosco County and Northeast Michigan.

Around the room were local governments, nonprofits, small businesses, major employers, utilities, financial institutions, childcare providers, housing and real estate professionals, tourism partners, educators, healthcare organizations, community service groups, and economic development leaders.

From townships and municipalities to entrepreneurs and community volunteers, the breadth of participation reflects something powerful: people across our region care deeply about the future of Iosco County and are willing to work together to make it stronger.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. Collaboration like this is what drives progress, creates opportunities, and helps build vibrant communities for current and future generations.
