As we gather to celebrate the Fourth of July, the we proudly honor the countless Irish men and women whose love of faith, family, and freedom helped shape the birth of the United States.

Long before Ireland achieved her own independence, Irish immigrants and Irish Americans stood shoulder to shoulder with their fellow patriots, answering the call to defend liberty during the American Revolution.

From the battlefields to the halls of government and the decks of warships, their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment left an enduring mark on our nation's founding. Their legacy reminds us that the American story is, in many ways, an Irish story as well.

Today we pay special tribute to Commodore John Barry, the Irish-born patriot revered as the "Father of the American Navy." His steadfast leadership, remarkable courage, and devotion to the cause of independence helped secure victory at sea and established a tradition of honor that continues in the United States Navy today.

As Hibernians, we proudly remember Barry and all the Irish patriots whose service helped win American independence and whose example continues to inspire us to uphold our motto of Friendship, Unity, and Christian Charity.

Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸☘️
