One Project at a Time - OPAT

One Project at a Time - OPAT One Project at a Time (OPAT) is a 501c3 non-profit corporation devoted to walking with those in poverty. This enables us to do something, and do it very well."

The Story Behind OPAT

One Project at a Time came out of an idea that has been forming for the past decade. When we look at the totality of poverty in the world, it is easy to throw our hands up in the air and declare, "I can't do anything about that." But you can...

OPAT has developed specific projects that are profound and long term so anyone, absolutely ANYONE can make a significant impact on

the poor. And while there are many great organizations doing wonderful charitable work, we have found many who have fallen through the cracks and desperately need your help. Quotes
Archbishop Oscar Romero
"We cannot do everything, but there is a sense of liberation in realizing that. Mother Teresa
"Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." Projects
OPAT's specific projects are divided into 5 different categories. These will be further explained on the Projects tab.

-Water Filter Projects
-Efficient Wood Stoves
-Medical Campaigns
-Education Scholarships
-Housing

Overview
OPAT's projects have been specifically chosen as they all:

-Cost from $20 to no more than $2000 to make it affordable for any one person, group or youth group.

-Make a significant impact to the life of an individual or community.

-Have long term implications for the individual or community.

-Make a real personal connection between he donor and the recipient as we walk together through our life's journey.

Ty Monroe County Habitat for posting this. For those who can help, these resources might become overwhelmed. Not only will they need donations of food, but they might need to serve 3 times the people in the same timeframe they normally operate. This means they might need more volunteers! For every food pantry meal provided, SNAP provides 9! So if you can help, these pantries will need your time, talent or treasure.

We are absolutely thrilled a local Pocono church is taking 6 of our purifying water filters to Liberia, Africa. That’s up to 6 million gallons of clean purified water. That can change the health of a couple generations of a family or village. Such a blessing!!!

Governor Shapiro has just signed into legislation an income limit of $45,000 for seniors & those with disabilities to qualify for their property tax rebate. They can also now receive a maximum rebate of up to $1,000, which was previously a maximum of $650. Their annual cost of living adjustment with their social security that was much needed, yet still not keeping up with the cost of inflation, was gradually pushing them out from qualifying for this rebate. Yet, the school districts in Monroe County, which also offer a local property tax rebate, have income limits set, depending on what district, from $20,000 to $35,000. Our seniors who live on fixed incomes could really use some assistance. If the governor sees it fit to increase the income ceiling to qualify for the rebate, so should our local districts. Let’s advocate for our seniors & reach out to our local school boards to increase their income limits for the local rebate.
