APSCUF, the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculty, is the union that represents more than 6,000 faculty and coaches at the 14 public universities in Pennsylvania. APSCUF negotiates the Collective Bargaining Agreements for the Faculty and Coach units on the statewide level. The Chapter Presidents at the 14 public universities serve on the Negotiations Committee, to provid
e perspectives from the local universities to the Negotiating Team. During the academic year, we typically have an APSCUF Membership Meeting on the first Tuesday of every month, either at 2 PM or 3 PM. At those Membership Meetings, we discuss issues related to the contract and other issues related to academics at the university. Participating in the meetings is a great way for individual faculty and coaches to share points of view. APSCUF advocates for positive working conditions in a university setting, reasonable benefits, academic freedom, shared governance, and academic quality. ESU-APSCUF runs annual elections for APSCUF officer positions as well as other university committees. APSCUF also reaches out via our Legislative and Political Action Committees to communicate with legislators about issues impacting higher education. ESU-APSCUF is also committed to student success; we sponsor the annual Honors Convocation every April, and APSCUF awards a number of student scholarships every academic year. APSCUF represents all faculty and coaches, tenured, tenure-track, fulltime, part-time, continuing, temporary. ESU-APSCUF also works with individuals through the grievance process, if a faculty member or coach feels some aspect of the contract has been violated. If you have a question related to ESU-APSCUF, please contact our ESU-APSCUF Office Manager, Toni Heller, at 570-422-3278. She can direct you to the appropriate officer or committee. Best regards,
Nancy VanArsdale, ESU-APSCUF President
