Pocono Heritage Land Trust Committed to protecting the outstanding natural places of the Pocono Mountains In some cases, PHLT acquires ownership of the land through donation or purchase.

Pocono Heritage Land Trust owns 13 Nature Preserves in Monroe County, all of which are open to the public dawn to dusk, 365 days a year. Our preserves offer a variety of trail networks, streams, natural beauty, and a history of preservation in the Poconos. How it works:
PHLT cooperates with willing landowners and local government to preserve land with special scenic, recreational or environmental value. In others, it acquires the development rights through voluntary legal agreements. In all cases, the trust accepts responsibility for managing and protecting the land in perpetuity. PHLT has protected over 4000 acres in Monroe County - and counting! Help us Preserve the Poconos. Visit phlt.org to get involved or plan your next outdoor adventure.

Did you know Pennsylvania has over 83,000 miles of running waterways, ranking second in the nation behind Alaska in total stream and river miles?

Join the Monroe County 4-H for a stream study on Sunday, October 11th. The event is for Monroe County youth ages 8-18; a parent must stay. The cost is $30 and includes Monroe County 4-H membership for the full 2026-2027 program year.

We have gathered a team of experts for this event: educators from the Brodhead Watershed Association, Monroe County Conservation District, East Stroudsburg University, and Penn State Extension will be there to educate and answer questions.

If you are interested in joining the Monroe County 4-H Pocono Ecology Club and taking part in this incredible opportunity, please send an email to [email protected] for information on how to register.
