Join us at the Board of Supervisors meeting on Thursday, May 14th as we unveil our Keystone, painted by resident and local artist Jane McHale, in celebration of America250! 🇺🇸🎨🔔
The unveiling celebration will occur during a regular Board of Supervisors meeting on Thursday, May 14th, at 7pm, and recognize both the artistic achievement and the community spirit represented by the Keystone project, which is part of Pennsylvania’s statewide commemoration of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026.
“Pennsylvania Keystones remind us that America’s story is not only told through national landmarks and historic events, but also through the pride, and contributions of local municipalities and residents,” said township supervisor Annette Atkinson. “We are incredibly proud to showcase the talent of one of our own residents as part of this important statewide initiative.”
The Middle Smithfield Township Keystone reflects township history, patriotism, community, and the natural beauty of the Pocono region. Through her artwork, McHale sought to capture the character and spirit of the Township while honoring America’s semi quincentennial celebration.
“There’s so many things that Middle Smithfield is known for”, said Machale. “I’m hoping this will be displayed where lots of people can see it.”
The America250PA Keystone initiative invites municipalities across Pennsylvania to create uniquely designed keystones that celebrate local identity while contributing to the broader observance of America’s 250th birthday. Middle Smithfield Township’s Keystone will serve as both a public art piece and a symbol of community pride for residents and visitors alike.
Residents, community members, and guests are invited to attend the unveiling ceremony and celebrate this meaningful contribution to the Township’s America250PA efforts
