The SCT 2026 First day History Hike brought hardy souls to enjoy trails at Boyden Farm conservation area. We were rewarded by a snowy woods reminiscent of Narnia. President John Cullity provided a glimpse into winters of the 1860s era with excerpts from the Benjamin Percival diary, a South Sandwich farmer. Percival’s grave is near by. Trustee Cliff Irving regaled the group with boyhood stories about Peters Pond. Wishing all a Happy New Year!

Super Moon full moon hike today Wednesday November 5th! Join trustee Cliff at 4:00 at the Scusset Fishing Pier, Scusset Road (yes, you have to go over the bridge!) for a moderate level hike to Sagamore Hill. Flashlights suggested, please leave dogs at home.

Hello friends!

I am THRILLED to announce that .conservation.trust is hosting a gala fundraiser on October 26th from 1-4pm - the biggest event ever held to date by SCT, celebrating 40 years of land preservation!

The gala will feature a silent auction and door prizes from several local businesses, including some of my personal favorites like Snowy Owl Coffee Roasters The Glass Studio On Cape Cod Titcomb's Bookshop The Brown Jug Food Shop Twin Acres Ice Cream Shoppe Sundance Clothing - Sandwich, Ma and lots more! I‘ll also be donating a photo portrait session, along with a few little mystery prizes 😉

I‘ve been learning so much about SCT’s many incredible accomplishments as I’ve become more involved with the organization. Every time I visit any of the beautiful trails on our 6 publicly accessible properties, I think about all of the hard working volunteers that have maintained them over the years. I feel deep gratitude for my dad’s vision and dedication in founding SCT, which has now preserved over 240 acres (and counting!) in Sandwich, meaning that land is now permanently protected from development and will continue to serve as much needed habitat for wildlife.

As someone who was raised with the woods as my playground, nature has always been a safe haven and primary source of emotional regulation for me. If this resonates with you as well, please consider supporting our mission to preserve these invaluable natural environments. We would be honored to have you join us 🙂

In June, Eversource volunteers did a fabulous job clearing brush and cleaning up SCT properties at the Osborne-Sherman, Toolas and Great Island preserves, 3 of the 6 properties SCT owns and maintains trails on for the public to enjoy. Eversource also has generously provided a $1500 grant to boost our ongoing land preservation efforts. Many thanks, Eversource!
