Principle of the Week: Critical Thinking

Critical thinking means that the person doing the thinking remains unbiased and open to all of the facts (observed, written, spoken), angles, and sides to the argument or situation. In order to develop the ability to analyze and select from the available information, you need to develop the skills to think critically.

People who think critically demonstrate proficiency at analyzing, synthesizing, and
evaluating their own thought process through reflection. Critical thinking can benefit you on the playing field, in the classroom, and in social situations.

Principle of the Week: Risk Taking

Taking risks can be positive or negative. It is important that you understand how to navigate, manage, and assess risk so that you choose to take risks in a way that benefits you.

Positive risk includes speaking up to peers about something you believe in, not giving into peer pressure, or attempting a complex movement in a sport. Negative risk includes speeding or cheating on a homework.

JJK’s Winning in Life helps you to feel empowered to take healthy risks and understand how to transfer this skill into the different aspects of your life — in school, relationships, and health (physical, mental, social).
