🔨 Cohort 2 is continuing to grow! 🦺

Weeks 3 & 4 of R3 Trade Ready Illinois Works Pre-Apprenticeship have been all about putting knowledge into action, and we’re seeing our students’ interests really start to shine through! Their engagement, curiosity, and willingness to learn are showing us that they’re ready to take the next step. 💪🏽

🪜 Week 3: Students focused on ladder and harness safety, learning how to properly set up and use a ladder while demonstrating the correct PPE for a construction scenario.

📐 Week 4: We dove into construction math while wrapping up our Basic Hand Tools unit. Students are building the foundation they need to work safely and confidently in the trades.

⚡ Next up: Week 5 — POWER TOOLS!

We’re excited to see their skills, confidence, and curiosity continue to grow as Cohort 2 moves forward! 🔥

R3 Development is looking for a Math Instructor to help prepare young adults ages 18–24 for success in the construction trades!
Construction experience is NOT required. We’re looking for someone who can confidently teach practical, foundational math skills such as fractions, basic measurements, tape measure reading, and pre-algebra concepts. The goal is to help participants strengthen the everyday math skills they’ll use as they move into apprenticeship and career opportunities.
📅 September 1–30, 2026 (Select Days)
⏰ 30 hours of direct instruction + tutoring/support
💰 Contract/Adjunct | $40/hour
📍 East St. Louis, IL

🔨 Another successful 2nd Saturday in the books! 💚

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and volunteered with us this month! Because of your hard work and dedication, we made incredible progress around the Tri-Plex—from landscaping and hanging drywall to mudding and taping. Every project completed is another step toward revitalizing our community.

We truly appreciate everyone who gave their time, talents, and energy to serve alongside us. We couldn't do it without our amazing volunteers and supporters!

Behind every United Way campaign are powerful stories of lives being changed!

Our 2026 Community Campaign Co-Chairs, Chris Zimmerman, President & CEO of Business Operations for the St. Louis Blues, and Ryan Davis, Managing Partner of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, recently visited four United Way-funded agencies to see our local community impact firsthand.

From opening doors to employment and strengthening neighborhoods, to expanding healthcare access, each visit was a reminder of the life-changing impact made possible through our community.

Congratulations to all 17 students who successfully completed this year's Summer Work Academy! 👏 Over the past few weeks, they gained hands-on construction experience, built valuable workplace skills, and completed projects they can proudly use themselves or gift to family and friends.

R3 Development's Illinois Works Pre-Apprenticeship Program is now accepting applications for our next cohort, but space is limited to just 25 participants!

This FREE 13-week program is designed to prepare young adults for successful careers in the construction trades through:

**We're hiring! Construction Math Instructor 🧮🔨**

Know a teacher who has a gift for making math make sense? R3 Development is looking for a Construction Math Instructor to teach our youth (ages 18–24) the practical math skills they need to succeed in the construction trades — measuring, estimating, budgeting, and blueprint reading.

This is foundational, pre-algebra math (fractions, decimals, percentages, basic geometry) — no calculus or advanced algebra needed. This is more than a teaching job — it's a chance to help young people in East St. Louis build real futures.
