Flowers and plants may like the rain, but it sure dampens a parade. We've decided to play it by ear due to the wet weather forecast tomorrow for the 2026 Memorial Day Parade in Riverside. If raining, we will still ride in a pickup truck to pass out wildflower seeds to the hearty souls under umbrellas lining the parade route, but will forego getting our pollinator costumes wet by walking the route. Our Club will work with local businesses and City locations to distribute the seed packets, so stay tuned.

Memorial Day Parade Notes

Monday May 25th will be The American Legion Post 10’s Annual Memorial Day Parade. If you are marching, please come to Oldham School on Bullocks Point Ave for 9:00 to start lining up. Trucks park on Providence Ave facing towards the Carousel. Floats and marchers, line up in front of the school. Classic cars line up on both sides of Bullocks Point Ave. Shriners in front of them.

We step off at 10:00am Rain or Shine. If you want to participate or have any questions, call Chrissy Rossi.

We end at the Legion on Willett where the traditional after-snacks will be handed out to the kids. A family friendly wrestling match will entertain the crowd (weather permitting) after the parade presented by The Official Wrestling Museum free of charge. They will set up their ring in the grove behind the Legion.

MARCH/WALK/RIDE IN THE PARADE with us to help save the butterflies!

The 2026 Riverside Memorial Day parade is happening Monday, May 25th and will kick off from the former Oldham Elementary School on Bullocks Point Avenue at 10:00 am. It's the same place where we have always met (NOT the new Oldham school on Bart Drive).

Join us as we gather on the school grounds between 9:00 am and 9:30 am to get ourselves situated with our place in the parade and be ready to go. Bring your pollinator costume, wings, anything colorful to wear (not mandatory) and be ready for some fun. ALL AGES WELCOME!

We'll be walking behind a pickup truck that will be available should you need to sit/rest, store your pocketbook/keys, water bottle, etc. If you want to help us pass out seed packets, bring a colorful bag or handbasket to use.

You'll park your car at Oldham and can opt to walk back to it from the American Legion Post #10 on Willett Avenue where the parade ends, or pile into the (large) truck to get a ride back to your vehicle.

Join us as we honor the veterans who rest at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery by placing American flags on their graves. New flags are provided by the American Legion. Meet us at the main entrance on Wampanoag Trail. It's advisable to wear garden gloves and bring a small trowel, as some of the markers are covered over time with dirt and grass and need to be dug out.

SNACKS, Snacks, and More Snacks! Pack up the crunchy and delicious snack food of your choice and plan to join us this Saturday night (Jan 31st) for an evening of laughs at our Rotary Club's annual comedy fundraiser.

All proceeds will support our Dollars for Scholars scholarship trust for EP and Seekonk high schoolers pursuing higher education.

Doors open at 6pm, show starts at 7pm, and there's a cash bar to purchase beverages to wash down all the salty and gooey snacks you will be eating. The 18+ event is happening at the Cape Verdean Club (329 Grosvenor Ave in EP).
