This years showcase will premiere a brand new work, shaped in collaboration with the Artists and ImmerseATL Educators Anna Bracewell, Sarah Hillmer, and George Staib.

Meet Season 9 Choreographer, Andie Knudson (2021 Alum) 🪽

Andie Knudson is a dance artist, videographer, and creative educator currently rooted in Atlanta, Georgia. Her dedication to the art form has taken her to various corners of the world, including a summer in France working with Oriantheatre's Paris Summer Academy and her time with staibdance in Sorrento, Italy.

Andie's performance career has included renditions of works by José Limón and Bill T Jones and process work with the late and glorious Nancy Stark Smith. Andie dances as a company artist with staibdance and is a founding member of EXCAVATE BODY.

As a creator, Andie has dedicated herself to a sustained period of solo research that began with Fly on a Wall's Excuse the Art series in 2023 and has since been presented at regional conferences. This evolving work has been supported by Dance Lab at the High Museum of Art, a Creative Residency at the Hambidge Center for Creative Arts and Sciences, and a return to Excuse the Art in 2026.

As a dance educator, Andie brings the same depth and curiosity she brings to her artistic practice into her teaching. She serves as Early Childhood Lead on faculty at Neighborhood Ballet and as Associate Artistic Director of Rise City Dance, where she works with the organization's youth company.

Meet Season 9 Choreographer, Jacqui Hinkson (2021 Alum) ❤️‍🔥

Jacqui Hinkson is a movement and visual artist, arts administrator, and the Founder and Artistic Director of Atlanta-based dance and performance company, EXCAVATE BODY. Jacqui is a long-time mover — drawing inspiration from years as an athlete, yoga practitioner, runner, and dancer. She also considers her work in dance and movement heavily infused with her approach and work as a visual artist, often approaching composition through that lens.

She completed ImmerseATL under the guidance of Sarah Hillmer, George Staib, and Anna Bracewell in 2021, and attended Paris Summer Academy with ORIANTHEATRE, under Mehdi Farajpour, in the summer of 2022. Later that year, Jacqui premiered her first evening-length work, AVALANCHE, at Windmill Arts. Following this premiere, Jacqui officially founded EXCAVATE BODY, and became a resident company at Windmill Arts.

Jacqui considers EXCAVATE BODY a product of circumstance and necessity, and observes it as an essential part of her daily life. She and the company are approaching their fourth official season and will be premiering their fourth evening length work in 2027. Jacqui is amused by the spontaneity and trust that leading a company presents and looks forward to crafting and witnessing the way the company, and work, evolves over the years.

Meet Season 9 Choreographer Leo Briggs (2019 ImmerseATL Alum) 🌀

Leo Briggs (he/him) is a faculty member in the Dance Department at Austin Community College, where he specializes in ballet and modern dance. He earned his MFA in Dance + Social Justice from The University of Texas at Austin in 2025. Leo is a company dancer for ARCOS Dance and Capital Contemporary Ballet. His work has recently been presented at OUTsiderFest, Austin Dance Festival, and the Cohen New Works Festival. Leo's embodied research frames transition and gender play as forms of creative and physical practice.

Join us for Contemporary Floorwork with 2019 ImmerseATL Alumni, Katie Messina! ⁠

With the growing need in the professional world, this floorwork class is designed for the vertical dancer - someone who has been in movement for much of their lives, but has limited experience getting in and out of the floor safely. The class will begin with a warm-up in a circle, finding the energetic transfer from one body to the other while the grounding of your full feet on the floor. It then move into a fluid center floor phrase to warm up the spine and increase hip mobility. We move across the floor with floorwork multivitamins, looking at commonly seen body patterning that will be asked of you in a professional space. All of this accumulates in a phrase to ignite our body with our learning brain.
