A brief history lesson!
The opening words of the Declaration of Independence state the following: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
Then the preamble to the Constitution reads; "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence (s), promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
Marginalized communities, especially those that identify as LGBTQIA apparently have no rights. Our ability to exist lately is seemingly contingent only on the party in power and/or any Presidential Executive Order. If we indeed have the rights and justice indicated by our founders, then a President or the Congress should not be able to capriciously decide that our status is questionable.
We need specificity in our laws that codify our existence. So, whenever you vote, regardless of the level, you should examine the candidates or issues thoroughly and then vote only in favor of who or what will protect us permanently. This includes city, county, school boards, state legislatures, and national offices.
We must end the ride on the see saw!
