Steering Committee members from SB HOME’s inception in 2008 to current leadership. Thank you to everyone who came out to support last night! 🙏🏼 We’re so appreciative of all the time our volunteers dedicate to SB HOME both in and out of clinic. Last night was to celebrate all of you! ✨ We’re only able to provide healthcare, education and mentorship due to the dedication from students and staff. Excited to see our community keep growing!

Ashna, Eric, and Sara represented SB HOME at the Community Health Leadership Conference hosted by the Miller School of Medicine this week!

Our Undergraduate Clinical Education Program chair, Ashna, and our Operations chair, Sara, presented a poster on SB HOME’s newly implemented Social Needs Assessment which has allowed us to better understand the needs of our patients and improve resource linkage. Ashna also gave an oral presentation on social determinants of health and the ways our clinic is trying to better understand and address these factors for underserved patients.

Our Finance chair, Eric, spoke about our telepsychiatry program, including how the model of care was established and some of the obstacles that we faced. SB HOME’s telepsychiatry program is one of the first such student-run programs in the country, providing free mental health care to patients in Suffolk County!

Stony Brook HOME is hosting a Spring Gala on Tuesday, April 26th in appreciation of our dedicated volunteers and to fundraise for our student-run free clinic. We hope you will join us!
Date: Tuesday, April 26th, 2022, 7:00-10:00pm

Location: The WaterView at the Port Jefferson Country Club (44 Fairway Dr, Port Jefferson, NY)

Attire: Formal

Cost: $60 per ticket (incl. dinner buffet)

All proceeds will be used to help provide primary care services for underserved and uninsured patients in Suffolk County.

4-8pm tonight! 🌯 33% of proceeds will come to our clinic to continue providing healthcare for uninsured patients. Money is used for things like lab work so patients don’t have to worry about paying for blood tests!

February is National Cancer Prevention Month and February 4th is World Cancer Day. SB HOME is partnering with CPiA (Community Cancer Prevention in Action) to increase awareness of cancer prevention strategies and risk reduction interventions!
