Serving K–12 students, we provide weekend food for 800 children so hunger doesn’t follow them home. Did you know that 1 in every 5 children in America, suffers from malnutrition? Children in Putnam County are at risk for hunger and many families struggle to provide them the nutrition they need to thrive. As a result, many children are coming to school too distracted by their empty stomachs or too
fatigued from not having food to eat and are unable to focus on doing well in school. Our FEED the NEED local backpack food program is one way to provide needed food to children in Putnam County who would otherwise not have adequate access to food during the weekends. FEED the NEED of Putnam County exists to end childhood hunger over the weekends in Putnam County. In Putnam County, we provide nourishing meals over the weekend to more than 850 children. We believe that everyone can work together to create a community (County) where no child goes hungry over the weekends. When friends like you partner with us, we can meet the urgent physical needs of children by providing food, taking action in our community and creating long-term partnerships with individuals, businesses, churches, etc. for food for Putnam County’s children in need. Join us now and help our Putnam County Kids! Our backpack food program requires the cooperation and support of the entire community, including school officials, community organizations, businesses, churches, parents, and children. Thank you for taking the initiative to support the health and education of the children in Putnam County!
