This Memorial Day, we remember.

We honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to something greater than themselves, and the families and communities forever changed by their sacrifice.

At Project Healing Waters, we carry their memory with us in every cast, every connection, and every conversation on the riverbank.

Healing is a way to honor their legacy, by living fully, by supporting one another, and by ensuring that those who survived have the space and support to heal.

We invite you to speak their names today. To share their stories.

And to remember that freedom was never free.

We remember. Always.

At Project Healing Waters, we are proud to have some incredible women veterans as part of our community. These strong, resilient women have served our nation with honor, and their presence in our program enriches the entire organization. Yet, we know that many women veterans are hesitant to get involved with nonprofits, unsure if they will find a space where they truly belong.

To the women who have served this country: We see you, and we value the unique perspectives and strengths you bring. Our program is a place where you can connect with fellow veterans, rediscover your sense of purpose, and find support in a community that understands. The women who have joined us have found not just healing, but also a sense of camaraderie that goes beyond the uniform.

If you’re a woman who has served and are looking for a place to reconnect and heal, we invite you to join us. Together, we can continue to build a community where every veteran feels welcomed, supported, and empowered.

It's with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of PHW volunteer Mike Elkavitch. Mike "The Elder" has been with the Downeast program since the beginning as one of our fly-tying instructors. His easy-going nature and sense of humor will be missed at our tying sessions. Mike helped a lot of veterans during his time with the program, including this one.

Still setting up, but stop by booth 23 at the Eastern Maine Sportsmen’s Show now thru Sunday and say hello!
