Last Thursday at Groton High we were able to surprise another recipient with the We See You Scholarship Award.

The goal in helping students that are seeking a degree in mental health or addiction services is to exponentially grow our reach and help more people heal.

We’re so thankful for all of you, that make our scholarship nights possible! We gave out another scholarship yesterday at East Lyme High and we are excited to be doing a second at Groton High School this week.

The We See You Scholarship Award has the goal of providing assistance to students that are seeking a degree in mental health or addiction services. By supporting those going into these fields, we can exponentially grow our reach to help more individual's heal.

Last year, 197 people died in Connecticut while experiencing homelessness — their deaths unfolding in tents, cars, sidewalks, on a front porch and in hospitals across the state.

Nine died from hypothermia, fifteen died from su***de and twelve died in the vehicle they lived in or after being hit by a vehicle. Others died from chronic health conditions or from an overdose or other substance-abuse related tragedy.

Each loss is a story cut short: Only three of them lived long enough to reach the state’s average life expectancy.
