MSU Solar Racing is looking for new members! 🚨

We’re a student led team that designs, builds, and races a solar-powered electric car (Lysander). You don’t need to be an engineer or have previous experience to be part of the team!

Whether you’re interested in engineering, electrical systems, mechanical design, business, media, strategy, or just want to learn something new, there’s a place for you here.

Competition officially kicks off before the racing even begins!

For the first three days, every team goes through scrutineering. This is where judges inspect Lysander and its electrical systems, mechanical components, and overall safety to make sure it’s ready to race.

Tomorrow is our final day of scrutineering before racing begins on Tuesday! So far, we’ve successfully passed:
✅ Safety
✅ Solar Array
✅ Body & Sizing
✅ Driver Operations

One more day of inspections, then it’s time to hit the track. Stay tuned as we get ready to race!

💚 It’s Giving Green Day at Michigan State! 💚

The MSU solar racing team is raising funds to help manufacture our newest car “Lysander” and support our journey to the 2026 American Solar Challenge!

For the first time in our team’s history, we’re completing a full design to build cycle in just one single year. Most collegiate solar teams spend 2-5 years on one car, but this year spartan engineers are pushing the limits to innovate faster, smarter, and more sustainably.

When designing Lysander we are focusing on reliability and performance, aiming to race Lysander at the collegiate level on expressways across multiple states in the 2026 American Solar Challenge.

Your support will help fund:

🏁Race fees for the Formula Sun Grand Prix and American Solar Challenge

Hey Spartans! The MSU Solar Racing Team is fundraising for our crowd power by selling football squares for the Lions vs. Packers game! You can help us reach our goal of $10,000 by participating in this fundraiser or going directly to our crowd power link ‘https://givingto.msu.edu/causes-to-support/crowdpower/solar-racing’ and donating to our team! Here’s how the football squares work:
-DM us how many squares you want to purchase
-Venmo ‘andela6’ $10 per square (we accept other payment methods located on our story)
-You will be randomly assigned a square(s)
-There will be four winners based on the last digit of each teams score after each quarter
-You are subject to win more than one quarter
-Whoever is on the corresponding square wins that quarter!
Half of the proceeds go to our crowd power and the other half is split between the four winners! The more squares you buy the better chance you have to win and the bigger the prize is! We will be selling squares until 1:00 pm EST! Thank you for your support and let us know if you have any questions! Go green!
