Hello, Volunteers for the International Speakers Program (I SPEAK) at MSU - An Invitation
We invite you to attend a meeting offering pizza, orientation, networking and opportunities to sign up for speaking assignments on Wednesday, January 27, at 6:30 p.m. in Room 201, International Center. You will have a chance to meet other members of the I SPEAK group and to hear about speaking experiences from some continuing members. You will also have the opportunity to meet Joy Walter, an International Student Advisor and Program Coordinator who is CVIP's liaison to the OISS office. We will briefly review guidelines and suggestions for successful speaking experiences, as described in a helpful handout prepared by the OISS office for your reference. We plan to have an experienced presenter show a sample part of a presentation and tell how it was constructed.
We have a few requests from schools and community groups for presentations. We'll have details available about each request, so bring your calendars along to the meeting so that you can sign up for one or more of these opportunities. We participate each spring in an event called "World Language Week" at Holt High School. This year, speakers are needed for Monday, March 14, and Tuesday, March 15. On March 16, one hour will be devoted to performances from around the world. Please volunteer if you can sing, dance, play a musical instrument, read poetry, demonstrate martial arts, etc. The schedule sheet will be available for signing up at the meeting on the 27th.
Pizza is being provided, so we need to know in advance whether you will be attending. Please reply by Monday, January 25, by sending e-mail to [email protected] or by phoning Carol Towl, 517-882-4391.
If you have international friends who are not yet part of I SPEAK, please pass this invitation along to them so that they can register to attend and learn more about the group, and perhaps become active participants.
