Michigan FFA Association FFA prepares students to fulfill the growing diversity & new opportunities in agriculture. We take pride in our agriculture and education backgrounds.

The Michigan FFA Association is an intra-curricular agricultural education program. We began in 1929 when we were federally chartered with the National FFA Organization – the United States largest federally chartered youth organization. Paired with classroom learning, FFA leadership and the supervised agricultural experience program, students are provided with the skills to pursue over 300 careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture. Although our agricultural roots run deep the Michigan FFA Association is Michigan’s foremost youth advocacy association – developing strong leaders and creating lifelong learners. Our main focus is developing premier leadership, personal growth and career success in Michigan’s youth through an integrated education process.

That’s a wrap on Michigan FFA Fall Conference!
From learning leadership from national facilitators at Fall Leadership Conference to exploring future careers at Careers Conference, it was two days full of learning, new connections, and unforgettable memories! Our state officer team loved kicking off both days, learning alongside members, and ending Wednesday with a night of dancing and fun.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this conference one to remember. We can’t wait to see where you RISE next!

Hi there, Michigan FFA! For this week's , we're highlighting Linken Mead from the Van Buren Tech Center FFA Chapter!

Linken has grown up around agriculture and showing animals and plans on pursuing a career in the agriculture industry.

To best prepare himself, he has taken Agricultural and Natural Resources classes at his tech center. While at the tech center, he is learning valuable hands-on skills that he can take back to the farm and, learning more about organic farming.

Linken believes the biggest problem facing young farmers today is the cost of getting started in agriculture. He also explains that finding help on farms can be quite difficult.

Well done, Linken! We are looking forward to see all that you accomplish. Keep up the great work!

For today's we are looking into Michigan's Cherry Production!

With Michigan producing over 57% of the nation's sweet and tart cherry supply it ranks the state of Michigan #1 in tart cherry production and #4 in sweet cherry production!

Michigan produces 109 million pounds of tart cherries every year and 24.6 million pounds of sweet cherries. Nicknamed the “Cherry Capital of the world” the Grand Traverse Area is home to 1.3 million cherry trees, the largest cherry producing region in the state of Michigan.

In just two short weeks, Michigan FFA members from across the state will be in Indianapolis for the 99th National FFA Convention & Expo! From sessions and workshops to meeting new people, making memories, and representing Michigan FFA, there’s so much to look forward to.

Whether it’s your first National Convention or you’re a seasoned attendee, we can’t wait to see Michigan FFA show up and make the most of every moment!

Happy @[ ]! Today we are highlighting Lyla Lapaugh from the Olivet FFA Chapter.

Lyla grew up around rabbits, having raised them her whole life. But this year, she enters the fourth year of pursuing a rabbitry business. Her main responsibilities usually center around growing out breeding stock and raising litters of kits, which she then sells to be breeding rabbits, or to compete on the show circuit.

She states that this project has taught her "the value of hard work," and her business certainly reflects that. On top of rearing and caring for her rabbits, she also offers tattooing, nail trimming, and showmanship help.

Lyla also has a very impressive show career, having taken home two separate State Rabbit and Cavy Awards, as well as earning a best of variety award with her red satin at the National Rabbit and Cavy Show.

Today, we’re highlighting Michigan Farm Bureau and there Michigan Foundation for Agriculture as a Platinum Star Partner! Michigan Farm Bureau supports the future of agriculture through education, leadership development, and opportunities that prepare the next generation to lead. Their support of Michigan FFA helps provide funding for programs and events, leadership experiences, and opportunities for members across the state. Happy ! Today, we will be highlighting Trace Thompson from the Springport FFA Chapter.

During Trace's time in FFA he has competed in a few different contests including demonstration, and public speaking which he was a state qualifier in. Trace explained that this experience allowed him to learn more about agriculture and build connections in the industry.

Trace also has an impressive SAE project running Thompson Brothers Show Stock, a 12 sow operation that is continuing to grow with 12 replacement and additional females coming in. Traces ultimate goal is to raise competitive, state fair caliber show pigs while consistently improving the quality of livestock he produces.

One piece of advice Trace would like to give to FFA members across the state is: "Find your passion and chase it!"

Thank you Trace for the great advice; we wish you the best of luck during your senior year!
