Michigan FFA Association

Michigan FFA Association FFA prepares students to fulfill the growing diversity & new opportunities in agriculture. We take pride in our agriculture and education backgrounds.

The Michigan FFA Association is an intra-curricular agricultural education program. We began in 1929 when we were federally chartered with the National FFA Organization – the United States largest federally chartered youth organization. Paired with classroom learning, FFA leadership and the supervised agricultural experience program, students are provided with the skills to pursue over 300 careers

in the science, business and technology of agriculture. Although our agricultural roots run deep the Michigan FFA Association is Michigan’s foremost youth advocacy association – developing strong leaders and creating lifelong learners. Our main focus is developing premier leadership, personal growth and career success in Michigan’s youth through an integrated education process.

Happy SAE Sunday! This week we are glad to highlight Allyson Wright from the Marcellus FFA chapter!

Allyson is passionate about agriculture through her two SAEs: showing dairy feeder steers and competing in agriscience fair projects. With more than nine years in 4‑H and three years showing dairy feeders, she loves raising calves and watching them grow under her care. Her agriscience journey began in 2024 when her class SAE sparked questions about egg storage, inspiring her and her partner, Morgan McClain, to test different storage methods. Their research has helped countless community members and earned major recognition, including 5th place at this past National FFA Convention and a gold award at the 98th Michigan FFA State Convention. Through these experiences, Allyson has discovered how much she enjoys both teaching others about agriculture and working hands‑on with animals.

Say cheese, Michigan, it is ! MWC in St. Johns is one of the largest cheese processing plants in the United States, producing more than 300 million pounds of cheddar, Monterey Jack, and Colby Jack every year. They process 8 million pounds of milk each day, all sourced from Michigan dairy farms.

But Midwest cheese is more than just a business. It’s a committed member of its community. They work to reach and support as many families as possible. MWC works to donate cheese and cash contributions to local charities. Playing an active role in their community is central to who they are.

Beyond community support, Midwest Cheese is dedicated to protecting natural resources and preserving the environment. They continually improve their processing systems to reduce environmental impact and prioritize transparency by sharing information about their operations. Through these efforts, Midwest Cheese not only serves its community but also helps inform and sustain it for the future.

State Skills Contest

Another year, another incredible State Skills contest at Michigan State University. With over 3,000 students from across the state, FFA members competed in a wide variety of Career Development Events. Whether they were creating floral arrangements in the Floriculture contest, testing their poultry knowledge in Poultry Evaluation, or anything in between, students gained hands-on experience in the fields of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources. Great work to all of our members who competed!
