Chuck "The Reverend" Grigsby may be best known for being a professional mixed martial artist who has appeared in organizations such as World Extreme Cagefighting, Midwest Cage Championships, Victory Fighting Championship, Mainstream MMA, Title Fighting Championships, Greensparks Full Contact Fighting, Glory Fighting Championships, Xtreme Kage Kombat, Dakota Fighting Championships, EFX, Extreme Challenge, as well as representing the U.S.A. internationally for the M-1 organization. Standing at 6'5 tall and fighting most of his career at a lean 205 pounds, Grigsby was a chiseled fighting machine, but behind the scenes, he has always been so much more. Chuck began his mixed martial arts career, fighting out of Des Moines, Iowa. Amassing an overall winning record of 23 wins and 10 losses throughout the course of his 8 year MMA career. A little known fact about Chuck, is while he was training for hours, daily, collecting multiple titles as an elite MMA artist along the way, Chuck was also working professionally, assisting victims of violent crimes with the Attorney General's Crime Victim Assistance Division, as well as volunteering his time in the role of Special Advocate for the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) program, as well as sitting as a member, on the Iowa Disproportionate Minority Confinement Committee. In addition to his many years as a professional athlete, starting his post-collegiate sports career, playing basketball, in both Brazil and Spain, Chuck came back to the United States, with a renewed sense of purpose, and has worked in the field of Social Services for the bulk of his post-basketball career, holding multiple positions along the way. In 2005, Chuck toured Eastern Europe, as a part of his wife, Sara's Master of Public Administration program at Drake University, visiting 9 different countries, with exclusive access to the World Health Organization and United Nations Offices in Geneva, Switzerland, in addition to attending academic workshops on topics such as; human trafficking, obesity, and the worldwide water crisis, as well as others. His passion for working in the community, spreading self-awareness, positivity and growth is nothing new for Chuck, but he is excited to take his passions even further, to reach and engage more people with the official launch of the G Unity movement. The first time I met Chuck Grigsby was at a health and fitness presentation Chuck had agreed to do for a lunch and learn break where I work. One of the first things I noticed about his presentation was how real life it was. Many individuals who have knowledge and are involved in the health and fitness industry in any way forget that not everyone has reached the point of knowing the benefits of healthy eating and exercising, and so others can see the whole idea of changing their eating habits and lifestyle as just one big a hurdle and hassle that isn't worth the effort to even get started. It is very hard to motivate anyone to change when they have no concept of what they will gain for their efforts. Chuck's presentation wasn't all about numbers and statistics, it was just a calm sharing of information that even individuals who work out like myself learned something new, on a topic that he is obviously passionate about in the way he wants to help others make positive change in their lives for themselves. Chuck's presentation, and obvious knowledge, motivated me to return to the gym after two years out following a car accident, and he was a great support getting me set up with a fitness plan and trainers that would work for me. Over the next six months I started to make to good progress returning to my pre-accident strength and fitness, but then unfortunately I was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer. I continued to attend the gym as I started chemotherapy, but it quickly became too much for me, and again Chuck was there to offer me the best advice for me. Unlike some gyms that would try and keep your membership going even when you have a period of not attending, Chuck advised me to cancel my membership and re-join when I felt I was ready and far enough into my recovery. I have always appreciated his integrity and support with his advice. One quality that stands out the most for me in Chuck is his calm, humble approach in encouraging people to do better for themselves. You only need to look at his past accomplishments to know how determined, focused, and driven Chuck is, but when you meet him there is no sense of arrogance or self-importance with regard to his achievements, there is just a man who will share his knowledge and experience with you to help you change your life if you let him. I cannot think of a better, more qualified person to take on the endeavor of G Unity Worldwide, and I am excited to follow Chuck's progress. With fondness,

Ingrid C

To Whom It May Concern: I am honored to be writing this personal reference at the request of Chuck Grigsby, Founder of G. Unity Worldwide. I have known Chuck for two years after meeting him at LA Fitness in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Chuck was instrumental in getting me started on a life changing and lifesaving journey. Chuck met me at a desperate time in my life after being unable to walk for 7 years, extremely over weight and unable to care for myself after my mother/caretaker died several months before. Chuck lead me to a new life with a weight loss of 120 pounds, being able to walk again without assistance and being able to care for myself and my service dog, Pepper. Chuck was so understanding of my situation and respectful of my mental and physical limitations and never made me feel uncomfortable or embarrassed. From early on in our interactions I found a friend and cheerleaders. We often would talk before or after my LA Fitness workouts with my personal trainer, Nick. Chuck always found time in his busy day to encourage me, lift my spirits when I hit a plateau and sincerely celebrated my successes no matter how small. Often during this time, he would express how much he enjoyed volunteering to help children to develop their dreams, aspire to be better human beings and to be able to be a mentor to give back to the community around the Tampa area. Chuck has many strengths to offer to the youth he will be working with in his latest endeavor with G. He is always interested in helping others no matter their age, background, or history. Currently of so many youths needing a strong role model and mentor, I cannot think of a more desirable person than Chuck Grigsby to mold, mentor and lead our youth. In conclusion, I would highly recommend Chuck Grigsby and the G, Unity Worldwide Organization to help develop and mold our youth which will be the future for all of us. If his performance with his own son and other children he has mentored in the past is any indication of what he can accomplish with this organization, it will be amazing. Sincerely,

Marianne B

Dear Sir or Madam, At the request of Chuck Grigsby, I am pleased to write this personal letter of reference in support of his drive to help motivate people to reach their personal and professional goals. I am a senior professional specialized in IT Project Portfolio Management, Project Management and Business Analysis for over 26 years. I met Chuck in 2013 in Saint Petersburg, FL. I quickly saw what a great leader he was, engaging his team and building a very positive environment; he did such a great job listening to people, sharing and embracing new ideas, helping to motivate them to reach their goals. He took the time to care about everyone around him and treated everyone with dignity and respect always. He made everyone feel welcome and valued and helped me personally to reach my fitness goals! Since I have known Chuck, he has always been very professional; He is resilient and reads cues and adjusts his style to be the most effective teacher and motivator he can be. His passion and do-whatever-it-takes attitude is second to none. Chuck has demonstrated that he is an intelligent, highly competent, enthusiastic, caring and a very motivational and effective person. He is energizing and is always eager to better the lives of all around him. He has such great integrity, complete dedication and a hard-working ethic. I feel that these qualities, along with great strengths of character would make Chuck a wonderful motivator for anyone willing to improve any aspect of their life journey. ITS BLACK HISTORY MONTH !!!

This video project is dedicated to Dr. Carter G. Woodson, the “ Father of Black History Month”. Without his life's work, there would no Black History Month to celebrate as we know it today.

BACKGROUND
Dr. Woodson was born in 1875 near New Canton, VA. He was the son of former slaves. In 1907, he obtained his BA degree and Masters from the University of Chicago. In 1912, he received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in only one year. The second African American in history to do so.

In 1915, he and his friends established the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History. A year later, the Journal of Negro History, began quarterly publication. In 1926, Woodson proposed and launched the annual February observance of "Negro History Week," which became "Black History Month" in 1976. It is said that he chose February for the observance because February 12th was Abraham Lincoln’s birthday and February 14th was the accepted birthday of Frederick Douglass.

Dr. Woodson was the founder of Associated Publishers, the founder, and editor of the Negro History Bulletin, and the author of more than 30 books. His best-known publication is The Mis-Education of the Negro, originally published in 1933 and still pertinent today.

He died in 1950, but Dr. Woodson’s scholarly legacy goes on.
We will celebrate Black History Month by sharing 35+ total videos. The people are randomly selected and have contributed to black history.
