Mission Driven Churches On Mission. Together. Supporting churches at every stage of the journey. We exist to help God’s kingdom come in local communities throughout our state.

American Baptist Churches of Michigan is a family of churches committed to a common purpose. We support our family by caring for pastors, identifying and training leaders, and by guiding churches in times of transition. We are urban. We are rural. And we are everything in between. We are free. We join together because we want to, not because we have to. The things we hold in common help us celebrate the things we see differently. We are inspired and informed by a history of justice and diversity. And while our roots keep us grounded, they don’t prevent us from breaking out in new ways. We are citizens of an ever changing world. We strive to be a constant to churches navigating the sea of change. We don’t fear tough questions. And we admit we don’t have all the answers. Still, we keep seeking. We keep moving ahead. We are Baptist. We may surprise you because we’re a different kind of Baptist. We’re on a mission. We believe God intends to rescue the world and we won’t miss the chance to be part of the story, having been rescued ourselves. We are active. We are on the field, not watching from the sidelines. We are loving God and leading strong.

Pastors spend their lives caring for others — but who cares for the pastor?

Join United Against Poverty and the 100 Families Initiative for a special **Pastor Appreciation Breakfast** honoring those who faithfully serve, lead, and shepherd our churches and communities.

This complimentary breakfast will include encouragement, fellowship, honest conversation, and a meaningful discussion on **pastor burnout, balance, boundaries, rest, resilience, and longevity in ministry.**

On October 1, 2026, MMBB published its annual compensation comparison report, including our recommendations for compensation increases. The average compensation of ordained American Baptist ministers in MMBB's Comprehensive Retirement Plan increased by 1.2% as of July 2026.

However, the average 12-month percentage change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from July 2025 to July 2026 was 3.1%. While MMBB calculated a 5.0% increase to address this gap, given the financial constraints many churches are facing, MMBB recommends a compensation increase of at least 4.0% for 2027.
