Meet St. Baldrick’s Foundation CEO Kathleen Ruddy, and the leadership team on this : http://bit.ly/2THbdY8

As the first employee, Kathleen has overseen the growth of St. Baldrick’s – from an idea to shave heads to support childhood cancer research to the world’s largest private funder of childhood cancer grants.

Under her leadership, St. Baldrick’s has funded over $282 million in research grants to 376 institutions in 29 countries, since 2005. And she’s not done yet.

Kathleen and the St. Baldrick's leadership team are leading the charge to create a world with better treatments for kids with cancer and give survivors long and healthy lives.

Together, we can .

In loving memory: Daisy, a 2015 St. Baldrick's Ambassador, was a little spitfire.

Her joy, laughter and strength were contagious, and she had a fierce love of jokes. Adopted as an infant from China, she was named Elliana, which means "God answered my prayers," but preferred her nickname, Daisy.

At age six, she was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor, and doctors said that if it came back, there was nothing left to do. It did, three additional times.

If Daisy's body had been as strong as her spirit, she would have lived forever, says her mom. She didn't earn her wings on February 26th, she was already born with them.

Daisy didn't want a funeral, and her family doesn't want flowers; they want a cure, so that kids will someday survive and thrive.

If you would like to honor Daisy, gifts to the Hope for Daisy Team: http://bit.ly/2TJGKIU will support her Hero Fund: http://bit.ly/3ap8CZA, to fund pediatric brain tumor research.

Honored Kid Levi was diagnosed and treated for high-risk medulloblastoma when he was 4 years old. He lived cancer-free for 14 years until a heart-breaking day in September 2018 when a tumor was found on his heart, and throughout his whole body – this time it was spindle cell sarcoma.

December 29, 2019 Levi passed away. Today, on what would have been his 20th birthday, join us in honoring Levi and celebrating his life.

During Rare Cancer Week, we’d like to introduce you to Honored Kid Cassie.

Since birth, pediatricians monitored two moles on Cassie’s back. In July of 2019 one of the moles started to grow – Cassie had melanoma.

Surgery and a centennial lymph node biopsy were completed to determine where the cancer could spread. Surgeons removed both moles and five lymph nodes from her left arm pit and confirmed that the cancer had spread.

The second mole was then removed and found positive for cancer cells. Cassie was then diagnosed with the BRAF mutation of melanoma – a rare cancer.

When you you support research that can help give kids like Cassie a better future.

Honored Kid, Scott, had the experience of a lifetime as an Honorary Assistant Coach at Tuesday night’s UNC Chapel Hill vs. NC State University basketball game.

Thanks to the generosity of Coach Roy Williams, UNC Basketball, Munroe and Becky Cobey (who joyfully donated a courtside experience) and Hunter Morin, Coaches vs. Cancer supporter, and the St. Baldrick’s Foundation-American Cancer Society research partnership, Scott was given the rare opportunity to attend practice, enter the locker room, take photos with the team, sit on the bench with Coach Williams and the players, and attend the post-game press conference.

“I will never, ever forget this day for the rest of my life. To finish with a win was the perfect ending to the best day ever!”

Introducing Honored Kid, Kyson!

He was born with Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH), a rare cancer. He is also BRAF positive. This gene mutation makes his LCH more aggressive.

Kyson started his life in treatment, and now at just over 2 years old, has been in remission for over a year. The possibility of LCH recurring is always on his family’s mind, but Kyson always lights up the room with his smile.

It’s Rare Cancer Week and kids like Kyson need you to support lifesaving research to .
