In 2018, Michigan State CVM Bee Medicine Club was founded after the Veterinary Feed Directive went into effect for Bees in 2017. The purpose of the Bee Medicine Club is to bring awareness to the importance of pollinators and the critical role veterinarians can play in the health of honeybee hives.

This past week we hosted two labs for Veterinary Students. One was a microscope lab hosted by Dr. Peter Fowler, allowing students to look at European Foulbrood and American Foulbrood, make hanging drop slides of samples, and ask questions about the diseases!πŸ”¬ The second lab was an in-hive demonstration hosted by Ana Heck, where students were able to interact with the bees and hive, along with ask questions about beekeeping! 🐝
