Thank you to Samantha (Drew) Murphy, an East Jordan alum and model, for donating a pair of her shoes to the Shoe Club! There is something especially meaningful about adding shoes from someone who once walked the same halls and sat in the same classrooms as our students. Samantha is a wonderful example of someone who followed her dreams, worked hard, and created her own path. We tell our students all the time that your shoes don't define you - your steps do. Samantha's shoes will now help remind our students that where you start doesn't determine where you can go. Thank you, Samantha, for giving back to your hometown and showing us how to walk in your value!

Some Shoe Club members helped the Friends of the Jordan River Watershed prepare the trail for the Walk The Wild 5k. The race/walk is this Saturday at 9am. “This family-friendly 5K winds through the forests and freshwater estuary that make the Jordan River Valley one of Michigan’s most treasured ecosystems. Participants of all ages and abilities are invited to walk or simply enjoy the Don & Eileen Klein Nature Trail while supporting conservation, education, and stewardship of this remarkable watershed.” For more info and to sign up: https://friendsofthejordan.org/walk-the-wild-5k/

Dolly Parton donated a pair of red high heels to the Shoe Club that she wore while recording her rock and roll album. Those shoes represent so much of what the Shoe Club is all about - valuing yourself, valuing others, and using your life to make a positive difference.

One part of this donation story that isn't widely known is just how special it was. Dolly doesn't typically donate items from her personal collection. She has a 40,000-square-foot warehouse filled with clothing and memorabilia dating all the way back to the 1970s. When we first made our request, I was told no a few times by people close to her. But when Dolly personally heard about the Shoe Club and our request, she wanted to donate something that was meaningful to her - something well-worn and special. That gesture says so much about the incredible woman she was. We will always be grateful for her support, her generosity, and the inspiration she has given our students.

Thank you, Dolly, for believing in our kids and for being such a beautiful example of what it means to Walk in Your Value.

Thank you to the Charlevoix Kiwanis Club for inviting us to speak today. We enjoyed sharing the history of the East Jordan club and our vision for Shoe Club Nation! Kiwanis is all about community service and making the world a better place - the grown up version of the Shoe Club! We enjoyed meeting the wonderful members!

We are grateful to the incredibly talented and kind-hearted Lauren Daigle for donating a pair of her fun shoes to the Shoe Club! Lauren is not only known for her powerful voice and chart-topping songs like You Say and Rescue, but also for her generosity and inspiring spirit. A huge thank you to Winter Vinecki for generously donating the ski boots she wore in the 2022 Winter Olympics as well as her latest book she wrote! Winter is a two-time Olympian aerial skier who competed for Team USA in Beijing 2022, a marathon runner who became the youngest person to run a marathon on all seven continents (including Antarctica at just 14!), a triathlete, World Cup champion, law school student, author, and motivational speaker. She’s the definition of strength, generosity, and using your platform to make a difference.
