Finger Lakes Mineral Club – About Us

The Finger Lakes Mineral Club (FLMC) is a non-profit organization devoted to fostering, promoting, developing and maintaining interest and enjoyment in the areas of rocks, minerals, fossils, lapidary art, geology and related Earth sciences. Our primary purposes and goals are the exchange of information, providing education in these fields to its members and th

e general public, and encouraging fellowship to everyone who has an interest in sciences. In pursuit of the goals outlined above, the FLMC offers educational programs at club meetings and mineral collecting field trips, with plans to establish a newsletter as well as an Earth sciences reference library. We welcome anyone to join our club. A formal education in the Earth sciences is not necessary, only an interest in personal growth and the desire to join with others with the same interests to help advance and positively influence the future direction of our hobby. Benefits of membership in the FLMC include networking opportunities, gaining new perspectives on the hobby, and coverage under the club’s liability insurance policy to protect club members and aid in securing permission to prospect and collect in localities that would otherwise be off limits.
