East Haven Fire Department Volunteer Company One

East Haven Fire Department Volunteer Company One Volunteer Compay One was established on January 2, 1900 by key members of the East Haven Community. It was the first organized fire department in the town.

Before the first chief of the department was appointed, he was a member of company 1. Since that time the company has produced career firefighters, battalion chiefs, and chiefs in departments such as right here in East Haven, New Haven, New Britain, and FDNY among others. Currently the members of Company One respond to Emergency medical, hazardous materials, motor vehicle accidents and structure f

ires. At the present time the company operates Rescue 2, which is set up for Emergency Medical responses, motor vehicle accidents and structure fires. The Rescue may also be used for rehab at major incidents by providing a warm resting area during the colder months, a cool area in the warmer month, a cool area in the warmer months.
