East Haven Fire Department Volunteer Company One Volunteer Compay One was established on January 2, 1900 by key members of the East Haven Community. It was the first organized fire department in the town.

Before the first chief of the department was appointed, he was a member of company 1. Since that time the company has produced career firefighters, battalion chiefs, and chiefs in departments such as right here in East Haven, New Haven, New Britain, and FDNY among others. Currently the members of Company One respond to Emergency medical, hazardous materials, motor vehicle accidents and structure fires. At the present time the company operates Rescue 2, which is set up for Emergency Medical responses, motor vehicle accidents and structure fires. The Rescue may also be used for rehab at major incidents by providing a warm resting area during the colder months, a cool area in the warmer month, a cool area in the warmer months.

Next week we will be holding our First Ever Paint the Market Pink Day for Breast Cancer Awareness October 11th on the East Haven Green from 8:30-1:30pm šŸŽ€

This day was inspired by Jessica, daughter in law of Ameliasā€™s Market owners Amelia and Ralph. Jessica is 34 years old and just rang her bell after finishing her last chemotherapy treatment for Stage One Breast Cancer.

Paint the Market Pink Day will include Pink or Breast Cancer Themed products by our vendors, giveaways, raffles, music, attendance by several breast cancer organizations including: Pink Aid, Sisters Journey, Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation and Yale New Haven Hospital Early Detection Program.

Many of our vendors and organizations will be accepting donations for one of the many organizations lists above as well as to Susan G Komen Foundation, Get in Touch Foundation, Jessica Iuliano and Jessica Holohan

So wear your pink, grab your family and friends and head on down to celebrate survivors and honor those who we have lost to breast cancer.

Today East Haven Firefighters both current and retired came to honor Firefighter Dan Dudek who succumbed to occupational related cancer just 2 years after retirement. The Connecticut State Firefighters Association added his name to the Connecticut State Firefighters memorial. Dan served the department for 25 years. We came to support all who he left behind, especially Danā€™s widow and son Cody who is a firefighter with the South Fire District as well as all of Danā€™s family and friends.
