It's !!

Let's embrace this beautiful Monday with “The Five Signs of May” Mindfulness Exercise

May is a month when the environment is rapidly changing. The goal of this exercise is to intentionally notice subtle signs of growth and transition that normally go unnoticed.

Instructions:

Take a 5–10 minute walk outside (or sit near a window).

As you look outside, find:

One thing that is newly blooming
-a flower
-tree buds
-fresh grass
-vines/leaves
-One sound that only exists in warmer months
-birds
-lawn mowers
-open windows
-insects
-distant conversations
-One sign of movement or energy
-wind through leaves
-people outside
-dogs walking
-traffic patterns changing
-One scent that reminds you it’s spring
-rain
-flowers
-cut grass
-sunscreen
-warm pavement
-One thing in yourself that feels different than it did in winter
-energy
-mood
-motivation
-social desire
-pace of thought

Afterward, ask yourself:

“What in my life is currently in a season of growth, even if it still feels unfinished?”

BPD doesn’t just impact relationships. Relationships can also
shape how BPD shows up and how people heal.

When we understand that, we can respond in ways that reinforce
what helps, not what hurts.

There isn’t one way this condition shows up.

Experiences can vary widely; from how emotions are felt, to how
relationships are navigated, to what recovery looks like over time.

It makes sense to be cautious if you’ve had a difficult experience withsomeone.

At the same time, when we start treating everyone with BPD as if
they are that same person, we risk letting past experiences get in theway of seeing, and supporting, the person in front of us.
Understanding starts with recognizing the individual, not just the
label.

Happy !!

In these busy months, life can become overstimulating, especially if you are around kids, caring for those with special needs/illnesses, or have a particularly stressful job. For those moments, when you are feeling overstimulated, try this exercise:

1️⃣ Pick one object in the room and stare at only that object for 30-60 seconds.

👁Soften you gaze

🔍Describe the object
- texture
- shadows
- colors
- shape

📸Slowly bring your attention to the wider room and the environment. While harnessing the focus and stillness of the one object.

It's !!

In the season of Spring, it's a great time to break your routine and try something new. This can be adding something to your routine, like picking up a new hobby, going for an evening walk, or trying out a new exercise. You can also change your routine, like waking up earlier to give yourself more time in the morning or trying out a new food recipe.

There are many benefits to changing your routine. Sometimes when we are stuck in a cycle, we lose creativity, or a "spark". Trying something new can invite novel energy into your life and help you to feel joy or learn something about yourself.

Sometimes life moves so fast that the little things, taking a moment for yourself, slowing down, or just pausing, get overlooked. Even brief breaks or small daily habits can have a powerful impact on your mental health over time, helping you recharge, refocus, and feel more balanced. Prioritizing these moments is not always easy, but they matter more than we often realize.

Today is . Let's get up and dance!

Mindfulness exercises are typically synonymous with stillness, quietness, and calmness. However, everyone is different in their needs to center their mind and practice mindfulness. In fact, some may find that moving their body is the best way to obtain a quiet mind. Dancing as a form of meditation has been practiced for centuries.

Today, we'll refer to a link that provides simple instructions on how to move through mindfulness using a dance technique. Remember, it's not about the product, it's about the present, the experience, and the sensation while engaging in the exercise. Today marks the start of National Volunteer Week!

Volunteers within the mental health community are integral to supporting the organizations, much like many of the representatives at NAMI! Often, volunteers are the glue that holds operations together, and their work may go unnoticed.

Furthermore, volunteering is a great way to engage in your community and can promote mental well-being. If you want to learn some ways to get involved in volunteering in your community, check out this resource for volunteer opportunities in Morris County💙: https://www.morristwp.com/1218/15566/Volunteering

This week, and every week, we will continue to recognize our wonderful volunteers for their heartfelt dedication to making the world a better place. Thank you, volunteers!!
