Hampton Lifeguard Association’s (HLA) mission is to WATERPROOF LONG ISLAND’S SOUTH FORK.

HLA is a chapter of the United States Lifeguard Association (USLA) and a 501(c) (3) Non-profit Tax Exempt Organization. The programs HLA supports includes: Lifeguard Training Program (45th year) & Tournament Competition, Junior Lifeguard Program (24th year) & Tournament Competition, Volunteer Ocean Rescue Squad (15th year), East Hampton YMCA Hurricane Swim Club (19th year) and In-school Swim Programs.

We’re proud to see the Beach Guardian Water Safety Program highlighted in The East Hampton Star through Katherine Mitchell’s firsthand experience in the program. From learning how the ocean works to building confidence in the water, Beach Guardians helps adults become safer, stronger and more knowledgeable members of our beach community. 💪

As Katherine’s experience shows, water safety education can make an impact at any age. 🛟

Open water lifeguards are more than a watchful eye on the beach—they are trained first responders. 🌊🛟

HLA is proud to join the United States Lifesaving Association in supporting House Resolution 1188, which calls for recognizing open water lifeguards as first responders and emergency response providers.

Every day, lifeguards prevent emergencies, perform rescues and respond when seconds matter. Now, USLA is calling for additional congressional co-sponsors to help move this important resolution forward!

A huge thank you to Dr. Kathleen Vine and Amagansett Dermatology for generously donating sunscreen to our East Hampton Town and Village lifeguards. ❤️

Our guards spend countless hours in the sun each summer, and taking care of the people who take care of our beaches means so much. We’re incredibly grateful for the support! 🌊☀️

Congratulations to the 18 young men and women who took on this year’s Cadet Qualification Test! 👏

The Cadet Program helps prepare the next generation with the skills, confidence, and ocean awareness needed to become certified open-water lifeguards.

We’re so proud of the hard work and dedication these Cadets have shown all summer. The future of our beaches is looking bright! ☀️

An unforgettable event of volleyball and community, all while supporting Hampton Lifeguard Association and our continued commitment to water safety.

We’re so proud of the HLA lifeguards who competed this year, and incredibly grateful to Kerri Walsh Jennings and all of the pros for welcoming our lifeguards onto their teams and sharing the sand with them. 💙
