Good Evening Everyone, I would like to take a few minutes and let you know what has been going on with the Hometown Heroes Banner Program. Quite a while back, I had a man by the name of Tom Whittemore (EG Fire Police) approach me regarding the banner program. Tom was a smart man (RPI grad) who retired and worked harder now more than ever. Anyway, Tom had suggestions regarding our beautiful Veterans banners and wanted to be involved, we welcomed him knowing the experience he would bring to us. We pounded the pavement on 9&20 many times, but only at certain times when the sun was in a specific place, weather was agreeable, etc.
Anyway, It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know Tom passed away a few days ago, very unexpected. I have no words, just such a loss to East Greenbush Hometown Heroes, EGFD, Town of East Greenbush, Family and Friends. It's so crazy, as I held his hand in the hospital, I thought...there is no way this guy isn't going to make it, I even told him I would go back to work and work with him everyday until he got better (for those who don't know, I work at Evergreen in Therapy). I told him I would kick his butt and drive him crazy until he got out! Who would I have to enlighten me as to what a pixel is? Who would talk for hours about the amazing pictures he took to honor our Veterans - Tom would. I am going to miss you my friend, RIP Tom Whittemore, thank you for everything you did for us but thank you most of all for being my friend. π
