Thanks to all who came out for the 12th annual Reeds Lake Trail Blazer 5K walk/run presented by Spectrum Health. We had a glorious sunny day and almost 400 participants starting their 4th of July with us. Feel free to grab photos to share your efforts.

Tomorrow is the big day! The Reeds Lake Trail Blazer 5K Run/Walk begins at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow! Online registration is now closed, but you can register from 5-7 pm tonight at the Community Center or onsite from 6:15 to 8:00 am. Adults (18+) = $40; Teenagers (11-17) = $15; Children (10 and under) = $10

Check out the course this year! Roads along the Reeds Lake Trail Blazer course will be closed for about 90 minutes the morning of July 4 for the safety of the race participants. The race begins at 8:30 a.m. and will be concluded by 10 a.m. Roads will close a few minutes before the start and will reopen as soon as possible. More info at www.reedslaketrailblazer.com.

Race begins at 8:30 a.m.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided at the finish line courtesy of Meijer.

An aid station is located on Reeds Lake Blvd near the half way point that will have water and Gatorade.

The race is chip timed. Awards will be given for the top 3 overall male, overall female, and the fastest stroller as well as male and female awards for runners in the following age groups: 10/under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+. Awards will also be given for the top three male and females 10/under riding bikes.

While you can use the Reeds Lake trail any day of the year (for free!), participating in the Trail Blazer 5k Run/Walk is an easy way to support future improvements to the Reeds Lake trail system and other programs of the EGR Community Foundation.

Past Trail Blazer races have contributed over $75,000 for the beautiful new boardwalk that spans the channel and the lowlands along Reeds Lake Blvd that was built in 2015.
