East and West Dover Firefighters worked together to hone our ladder skills for last night’s drill. Crews worked in teams of two to ladder the exterior of the Snow Lake Lodge as quickly as possible.

EDVFD was dispatched at 1405 to respond to a brush fire in Newfane. Tanker 1 and 4 East Dover firefighters responded. Shortly after clearing the scene, T1 was requested to Marlboro to assist with a brush fire. All units were returning at 1755.

Chief Abel, Assistant Chief March, and Captain Audet brought East Dover Engine 1 to Southwest New Hampshire Fire Mutual Aid’s Annual Meeting last night. Mutual Aid departments from all across southern Vermont and New Hampshire gathered to discuss the radio dispatching system.

Fire Weather Watch in effect from 11 AM to 7 PM today. Strong southerly wind gusts of 30 mph, with locally higher gusts possible. Conditions will be favorable for any fires to quickly spread should any fires start.

Last Wednesday night, East and West Dover firefighters trained together on fire extinguishers. Firefighters reviewed extinguisher classifications and use before doing some hands-on training. Thank you to Code 3 for providing us with outdated extinguishers to use for the training!

Tonight’s drill with the West River Training Group - rural water supply at the Townshend Dam. The crew had a chance to become more familiar with Engine 1’s pump.
