We continued our series in 1&2 Samuel this weekend and Pastor Kyle walked us through the beginning of Saul’s downfall when he trusts his own pride and numbers more than God’s clear commands, while Jonathan quietly shows what it looks like to move forward in humble, risky obedience. God doesn’t need our strength or status to win victories; He looks for hearts that will simply listen and obey. We were challenged to stop playing the hero in their own story and return to prayerful dependence on the true King!

What happens when we make wrong choices and turn away from God? This Sunday, we explored 1 Samuel 11-12 and discovered something powerful: God never forsakes His people.

Israel chose a king over God. They made the wrong call. But even in their rebellion, God's response wasn't abandonment—it was love. Samuel reminded them that despite their sin, God would not forsake them "for His great name's sake." The Lord's faithfulness isn't based on our worthiness, but on His character.

The same is true for us today. When we mess up, God doesn't call us to hide in shame or make excuses. He calls us to repent, turn back, and follow Him. His grace is overwhelming, and His love relentless. As we celebrated baptisms and communion together, we were reminded that God chased us down all the way to the cross—and He's not giving up on us now.

Have you responded to God's recent call in your life? Today is the day to turn back and follow.

We continued our series in 1&2 Samuel this weekend and found that Israel chose a human king over God and quickly discovers the cost, yet God still refuses to abandon them. Pastor Kyle shared this story to show how God’s faithfulness remains steady even when we’ve made painful, “hot pepper” choices. We’re invited to own our failures, turn back, and follow the One who never forsakes His people!

Ever insisted on something you wanted, only to realize later it wasn't what you needed? Israel did exactly that in 1 Samuel—demanding a king they could see, even after God warned them it would be like biting into a spicy chili pepper thinking it's an apple.

God gave them what they asked for in King Saul, but not without warning them first. Sometimes God allows us to have our "chili peppers" to teach us that His way is always best. The question is: What chili pepper are you still asking God for? Or maybe you're already chewing on one, realizing just how spicy it really is?

Here's the beautiful part—even when we choose poorly, God doesn't abandon us. He was present with Saul, working through lost donkeys and divine appointments. God uses even our detours for His purposes.

This week, ask yourself: Am I seeking what I want, or what God knows is best for me?
