In observance of Juneteenth, the library is closed.
On June 19, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas with the news that more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in the state were free. Juneteenth stands as both a testament to history and a celebration of the unyielding spirit of freedom, resilience, and hope.
We encourage everyone to take time to reflect, learn, and honor the significance of this important day.
