Steve provided training for multiple officers of Local 640 over the years. You will be missed brother.

Rest in peace, Brother Steve Wyatt. Steve was a veteran unionist and educator who provided numerous educational trainings to the UWUA over the years. He recently passed away on January 13, 2026.

He presented at many UWUA regional conferences and met with many of our locals across the country over the years.

We will miss seeing him around the UWUA, his kindness and his enthusiasm for sharing his knowledge with the next generation of unionists.

We are proud to announce that after months of working and pushing back on American Water through the arbitration process, we have reached a tentative settlement agreement to bring Bankruptcy work back to the Collections team of UWUA Local 640.

This important work has been performed by Union members in the Collections work group for over 20 years and last year it was taken and given to non Union workers.

We filed for arbitration and got to work.



Before we could reach the arbitration table the company attorney contacted our attorney with an offer to bring the work back with a couple stipulations. Those were that collections will have to sign off on Bankruptcy work and be willing to testify in court if needed.



So not only are we taking the work back but we, in a way, own it now.



We would like to thank the witnesses who helped prepare for this case that ultimately brought this positive outcome.



We must always fight for Union work because if you give them an inch they will take a mile.
