Hi everyone. My name is Chasity, and I want to welcome you to our Cancer Support Group. I'm so thankful that each of you is here tonight. Whether you're a patient, survivor, caregiver, family member, or friend, I hope you know you've come to a place where you are seen, understood, and supported.
A little about me—I work as a nurse in the Emergency Department here at Baptist Easley Hospital. But beyond my job, I'm also a stage IV gastric cancer thriver.
In December 2024, my life changed overnight when I was diagnosed with stage IV gastric cancer. Like so many of you, I was suddenly thrown into a world of scans, biopsies, chemotherapy, surgeries, and endless appointments. There were days filled with hope and days filled with fear. There were moments when I celebrated good news and moments when I had to face setbacks and recurrence.
My journey has included chemotherapy, a major gastrectomy with HIPEC surgery, another surgery after my cancer returned, and more treatments along the way. It hasn't been easy, but through it all I've learned that cancer affects so much more than our bodies. It affects our emotions, our families, our friendships, our faith, and how we see ourselves.
One of the things I wished for most during treatment was a place close to home where people truly understood what I was going through. I wanted somewhere I could celebrate victories, share worries, ask questions, laugh, cry, and simply not feel alone.
That's why this support group was created.
My hope is that this group becomes more than just a monthly meeting. I hope it becomes a family—a place where we encourage one another, celebrate every milestone, grieve together when needed, and remind each other that we are stronger than we realize.
There is no pressure here to have the right words or to always be positive. Some days are hard, and that's okay. Some days are filled with joy, and we celebrate those too. Every emotion is welcome in this room.
Thank you for trusting us enough to be here tonight. I truly believe that healing isn't only found in medicine—it can also be found in friendship, laughter, understanding, and hope.
I'm so grateful you're here, and I can't wait to get to know each of you. Together, we'll remind one another that no one has to face cancer alone.

We hope to see you there!! We are going to have so much fun! 🤩

No matter where you are in your cancer journey, remember this: You are more than your diagnosis. 💜

Some days will be hard, and that’s okay. Celebrate every victory—big or small. Lean on those who love you, hold onto hope, and give yourself grace.

One day. One step. One breath at a time.

Keep believing. Keep fighting. Keep living. 🎗️
