When did biblical become radical?
If the Apostle Paul were alive and ministering in America today, I wonder how many Christians, and even preachers, would criticize him for being too radical, too intense, or too consumed with the call of God.
A man who counted everything as loss for Christ. A man who embraced suffering, sacrifice, and hardship for the sake of the Gospel. A man who poured out his life as a drink offering and refused to live for his own comfort.
Perhaps the problem isn’t that Paul was extreme but instead the American Church has become far too comfortable.
The New Testament presents wholehearted devotion, self-denial, sacrificial living, and complete surrender as normal Christianity. It is self-centered, comfort-driven, costless Christianity that is foreign to Scripture.
Maybe it’s time to stop measuring biblical Christianity by the standards of our culture and start measuring our lives by the example of Christ and His apostles.
