Venturing Michigan Crossroads Council

Venturing Michigan Crossroads Council The Offical Venturing Page of the Michigan Crossroads Council Venturing is a new “old” program of the Boy Scouts of America.

Originally part of the Exploring Division, it finally came into its own in 1998. It has become the fastest growing program of the BSA. Young adults have found through the Venturing program the outlet they have been looking for in their age group. There are continued misconceptions about what Venturing is all about. Venturing is not for young boys and girls but rather for young adults. They are abl

e to do more and go further as a Venturer or Sea Scout in a Venturing crew or Sea Scout ship. Venturing provides positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. Venturing provides the skills needed for young adults to make ethical choices, experience a fun program full of adventure and challenges, acquire leadership skills, and to take advantage of opportunities to advance their skills and knowledge in the areas of high adventure, sports, arts, hobbies, religious life, and Sea Scouting. Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 years of age OR 13 years of age and have completed the eighth grade and under 21 years of age. Venturing’s purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.

The celebration kicks off outdoors with age-appropriate Scout skills challenges and hands-on activities. Indoors, Scouts can sharpen their expertise through interactive STEM exhibits and emergency scenario drills—ensuring the skills that shaped the last 250 years of American leadership remain sharp for the next 250.

Dust off your Pinewood Derby car and compete in the Eagle 250 Showdown, or explore the historic grounds and museum at the iconic venue.

A cornerstone of the evening is the industry-focused mentorship experience, where new Eagle Scouts are paired with accomplished Eagle Alumni aligned with their career interests. From aerospace and engineering to public service and media, these one-on-one connections provide rare, meaningful professional insight for the next generation of leaders.

Guests will also explore military and veteran exhibits that connect Scouts’ service projects to the broader story of American sacrifice and leadership.

With a celebratory carnival atmosphere, the evening includes:

- A strolling dinner
- Live music
- Carnival games with fun prizes
- A moving program honoring the journey from Life to Eagle
- Special surprises throughout the night
- The unveiling of a limited-edition America250 commemorative patch set

As we reflect on Scouting’s role in shaping the nation, this celebration becomes more than an event—it’s a powerful bridge between generations, inspiring every attendee to carry the spirit of service into America’s next chapter.

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month!
With warmer weather and more travel ahead, it’s a great time to talk about staying focused behind the wheel — for Scouts, families, and leaders alike. Distracted driving remains one of the most preventable causes of crashes, and awareness can save lives.

Let’s all commit to keeping our eyes on the road and minds on the mission of arriving safely!
