Heroes District - BSA Our District is a part of the Michigan Crossroads Council. We cover the urban centers of SW MI.

We provide in-school programming and traditional Scouting programs: Cub Scouts, Scouts, BSA (formerly Boy Scouts), Venture and Explorer programs ages 6-21.

🚨 Scouts BSA Advancement Updates Effective January 1, 2026

Planned improvements to Scouts BSA merit badge requirements take effect on January 1, 2026. These updates are designed to help Scouts explore modern career paths and hobbies, develop practical skills, and engage with current topics—while maintaining the quality and tradition of the Scouts BSA advancement program.

More than 80 merit badges have been thoughtfully updated based on feedback from Scout leaders, subject-matter experts, and current trends in technology, safety, and outdoor education.

• Enhanced safety and outdoor ethics content
• Updated technology and real-world skills
• Clearer, more user-friendly requirements

The Silver Beaver Award was introduced in 1931 and is a council-level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America. Recipients of this award are registered Scouters who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given at the council level.
