“Sometimes real superheroes live in the hearts of little children fighting big battles."
Our annual Heroes In Plain Sight event is so much more than a celebration — it's a resource fair designed especially for families of medically fragile children, bringing together community organizations, heroes, and support services all in one place, so families can discover the resources available to uplift and support them in different and meaningful ways. Because at Rays for Rare, our mission is to uplift the WHOLE family.
This year was nothing short of magical! From superhero cape making to cuddles with the mini horses and police dog— there was something joyful for every member of the family. Siblings, parents, and caregivers all got to laugh, connect, and breathe for a moment with community.
Our community heroes showed up in a BIG way:
🚔 Boise Police Department brought the Bearcat for a truly heroic moment
🐾 Eagle Police K9 Unit stole hearts
⭐ Ada County Sheriff joined the fun
🚒 Eagle Fire Department lit up smiles — giving our kids the chance to experience their everyday heroes outside of scary moments
📚 Eagle Public Library showcased their incredible collection of adaptive toys and books, opening doors to learning and play for children of all abilities
♿ Norco treated wheelchairs to the ultimate hot rod wash AND made much-needed on-the-spot adjustments
🧗 Courageous Kids Climbers brought the adventure
🍰 Icing Smiles delivered the sweetest surprise
🐴 Mini Joys provided cuddles and sweet moments
Families also had the opportunity to connect with life-changing resource organizations that can support them on their journey:
💛 Make-A-Wish — creating once-in-a-lifetime experiences for children with critical illnesses
💛 Idaho Parents Unlimited — advocacy and support for families of children with disabilities
💛 Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho — a home away from home for families during medical crises
💛 YMCA — wellness, programs, and community connection for the whole family
A heartfelt thank you to Intermountain Gas for sending an incredible team of volunteers whose energy and heart made the day even brighter.
And we are deeply grateful to Alturas Capital Partners for hosting and to Silver Sage Porsche Club for generously sponsoring this event — making it all possible.
To every partner, volunteer, resource provider, and family who walked through those doors — YOU made this day what it was. When we come together like this, families don't just feel seen — they feel supported, empowered, and a little less alone on a very hard road.
We can't wait to do it again!
