At the Sunshine Gala, we had the honor of sharing three deeply moving stories that reflect the heart of what we do. This first video invites you into the life of one of our incredible Rays — a medically fragile child whose strength, resilience, and light remind us why we do this work.

Through their story, we see the daily realities, the challenges, and the moments of pure joy that define life for our Rays and their families. It’s a glimpse into the heart of a journey few truly see — and a powerful reminder of the impact your support makes.

A huge thank you to NABIP for their incredible generosity and for welcoming Rays for Rare into their Royal Rays Bowling Fundraiser!

Events like this one are so much more than a fundraiser — they are an opportunity to bring our mission to new hearts and new hands. Every pin knocked down, every dollar raised, goes directly toward bringing support, connection, and care to medically fragile children and their families right here in our community.

We are so grateful for the NABIP community and the way you showed up for our families. Partnerships like this one remind us that we are never doing this work alone.

🍂 Fall Family Festival — and what a day it was.

About 250 of our Rays for Rare family members came together last month for hayrides, pumpkin patches, a ropes course, pig races, corn poppers, and so much more. But more than any of the activities — it was the laughter, the connection, and the simple joy of being surrounded by people who truly get it that made this day everything.

For the families we serve, moments like these are everything. Time to breathe. Time to play. Time to be reminded that they are never walking this journey alone.

A heartfelt thank you to Idaho Pizza – Kuna for helping sponsor the day and feeding our beautiful crowd under the big tent. Your generosity made this gathering even sweeter and we are so grateful for you!

The 2026 Sunshine Gala: Derby Day Delight was an unforgettable evening of elegance, generosity, and so much heart. The Midnight Jazz Cats kept everyone on their feet, the silent auction, w**e pull, games, dessert dash, live auction and paddle raise had the room buzzing all night — and our family impact videos stopped everyone in the most beautiful way.

Every dollar raised goes DIRECTLY back to Rays for Rare — to the nearly 250 families and 1,000+ people we impact every month. This event is the heartbeat of our organization.

The Sunshine Gala: Derby Day Delight is our most spectacular Gala yet — an evening of Southern charm, bold hats, live entertainment, decadent Derby-inspired cuisine, and an auction that gets hearts racing. But this is so much more than a gorgeous night out.

The Sunshine Gala is our largest source of funding and the heartbeat of everything we do. Without it, so much of what we provide to local medically fragile children and their families simply would not be possible. This evening is not just a celebration — it is vital to our mission.

Every ticket. Every bid. Every ribbon worn goes directly to local medically fragile children and their families right here in our community. Lawn care and snow removal so parents can focus on what matters most. House cleaning, gas cards, and hospital cafeteria cards so there is always a meal waiting. Mental health support, community groups, and family events that remind families they are never, ever alone.

What an incredible day on the course! ⛳☀️

We were so grateful to participate in the Hayden Homes Idaho Charity Championship Golf Event alongside some amazing people all coming together for a great cause.

A huge shoutout to our incredible Rays for Rare team — Ty Travis, Graham Delaet, Taylor Schmit and Kevin Murphy — who played their hearts out and brought home funds to further our mission of bringing uplifting support to local medically fragile children and their families right here in our community.

Our team was absolutely phenomenal and we could not be more proud of the way they represented Rays for Rare with heart, hustle, and a whole lot of talent.

Thank you to Hayden Homes for hosting such a wonderful event and for investing in our community in such a meaningful way. Events like this remind us that when people come together, incredible things happen for the families who need it most.

The “Glass Children”

In families with medically fragile children, siblings are often called “Glass Children” — seen as strong and unbreakable, yet often feeling invisible as so much care and attention must go to their brother or sister’s complex needs.

At Rays for Rare, we see them.
We honor their strength, their love, and the quiet ways they show up every day. That’s why we’ve created special events just for siblings — a time to be seen, celebrated, and simply kids.
