The Club has been organized for the mutual enjoyment, study, and advancement of gardening, horticulture, landscape design, and floral design; to aid in the protection

resources and encourage the building and improvement of roadsides and parks, and constantly strive toward community beautification; hold shows and exhibits for the enjoyment and education of the public; and study and conserve native flowers, shrubs, and trees.

Thank you to everyone who donated plants and also helped over the weekend with our annual garden sale! It was a beautiful windy day and fun to see everyone.

Also, thanks to local Scout Troops 229 and 230 for participating in our Invasive Species Removal training at the Eagle River Lion's Park. Upon completion, these scouts will receive an Environmental Science Merit Badge upon completion and the Greater Eagle River area will have less vetch and dandelions. Yay!!! Look for Scouts removing invasive weeds over the next couple of months and give them a big thank you!

GERGC has lots of activities next week and we would love to see you there!

June 2 is our meeting to learn about hot and cold composting tailored to Alaska's climate. CORRECTION: Meet at 6:30pm at the Eagle River Presbyterian Church at 12868 Old Glenn Hwy in Eagle River!!!

June 6 is our annual plant sale at Joy Lutheran Church from 10am-1pm at 10111 E. Eagle River Loop Rd. Donate plants and items to sell and find some to take home!

June 7 will be the final training for the Youth Invasive Species project at the Lion's Park from 1-2pm.

Thanks to the GERGC and the South Anchorage Rotary members who helped clean out the garden at the Eagle River Nature Center on Saturday! We are ready for new soil and replanting will follow soon there after!

If you have any pre-teens or teens interested in learning about invasive species, there will be a training Sunday, May 17th at the Eagle River Nature Center from 5-7pm. Registration is required at www.ernc.org/public-programs.

Students may be able to earn a small stipend in June with parental permission and meeting the program requirements. For additional questions, please respond to this post.
