Vilas County Master Gardeners Association gardening information

Spring is here, and plots are still available for gardeners this summer at the Northland Pines Community Garden, behind the high school in Eagle River. The organic garden which opened in 2011, has 19 plots for rent, a teaching garden for youth groups, and a hoop house for the Vilas County Food Pantry.
The garden is sunny and fenced; water and compost are available, and has a locked shed for tools. Plot size is 10 feet x 10 feet and costs $30.00 for the season, which has not changed since 2011. Rent a plot to grow your own food, interact with other gardeners, and help grown some food for the food pantry. Great for beginners, and a convenient location!
For more information or to reserve a plot, contact Marcy Chuckel at [email protected] or 715-617-7110.

News from WIMGA

2025 Name Badge Issuance
This affects new participants entering the program in 2025 and participants who did not previously receive a new name badge during 2023 or 2024:

You will receive a name badge this year. Name badges will be delivered via US Postal Service between late August to September 2025. We apologize for the delay as UW-Madison transferred to a new financial system.

Please note:

To be eligible for a new name badge, you must have acknowledged the Terms Acceptance and Profile Update in the ORS by May 1, 2025.

Once you receive your name badge, please stop using any previous versions.

Please make sure to follow the identification guidelines provided by the organization you’re volunteering with.

This is not a full re-issuance for all Master Gardeners in 2025. However, we’re continuing to issue updated name badges to those who were in good standing from 2023 to 2025, as they complete their annual requirements.
