On this Memorial Day, I ask that all of you take just 5 minutes to watch this video in its entirety. This is what Memorial Day is about, and it is the 5 year old saying “we’re visiting Daddy’s grave marker” and the sweet 3 year old singing “Happy Beerthday” that gets me every time.

Memorial Day is about remembering the sacrifices that have been made and the lives lost for our freedom. It’s about these two little boys who have grown into amazing young men, but without their dad by their side….and the countless other children who have done or are doing the same. It’s about enjoying your holiday weekend bbq while honoring these heroic men and women, because your freedom to do so it is what they fought for.

Watching this video brings me right back to that day and those moments. I can’t help but watch my boys, so little at the time, as they held my hands walking to the place we would come to know as ‘home’ during Memorial Day weekend.

So today especially, we will say Jeff’s name. We will honor him, we will remember him, and most of all, we will love him. We will do the same with others who have also lost their lives in service to our country.❤️

At Ohio State University, Jeff's oldest son TJ is President of an organization called 1 Day for the KIA (their mission statement is below), and he needs your help!! They have a 5K next Saturday, Oct 25th, and are hoping to raise money through signups and donations. The good news is, you don't have to be in Ohio to participate, registration is only $5, and you can give a donation of any size along with your registration. I hope you will consider helping him out as I know every dollar counts. THANK YOU!!!

1 Day for the KIA mission: "To support the children and siblings of those who have been killed in action, missing in action, listed as prisoner of war, or deemed 100% disabled due to their service by assisting in the child's education through the Living Legacy Scholarship.

The 1 Day for the K.I.A. Fall 5K Run is on Saturday October 25, 2025.
