Day 2 with the Good Relative Circle students was another success! We ventured into bear country with the kids, then made a trip to the mall for lunch and a little shopping before heading home. The trip was a blast for both the students and advisors, and we’re proud to recognize these youth for their accomplishments and hard work throughout the school year!

Natural Helpers Kick Off End-of-Year Celebration in the Black Hills❤️🌲

We had a fun filled day 1 for the Natural Helper end of year trip! Students and advisors traveled to the Black Hills starting off the good times at the Rushmore Tramway Adventure Park in Keystone. From conquering heights and overcoming fears to powering through a little rain, the adrenaline was high and the smiles were bigger.

Followed with a trip to our cabin where we were blessed with the unexpected company of a couple Buffalo in our back yard! We made pizzas and played games before rounding the night with s’mores.

More adventure to come tomorrow! We are having such a fun time celebrating this groups year of success!

Today, Keya Foundation staff had the honor of presenting at the Great Plains Partners in Chronic Disease Prevention Symposium in Rapid City. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share the work we’ve accomplished through the Great Plains Good Health and Wellness Program, including our Natural Helpers and Good Relative Circle youth programs, as well as our community outreach through the Summer Family Night Series and the parenting program, Tiospaye Kin Iglukininpi.

We’re proud to wrap up another successful school year, connect with others doing meaningful work across our communities, and now look ahead to celebrating with our Natural Helpers on our end-of-year trip tomorrow!

🎉 Congratulations to Our End-of-the-Year Good Relative Award Winners! 🎉
Throughout the school year, students from Cheyenne-Eagle Butte (C-EB) were nominated monthly by school staff for demonstrating the Lakota Values each month. These students showed care, humility, respect, honestly, wisdom, prayer, generosity, and positive role modeling within their school.

To celebrate their hard work and positive impact, we awarded all students nominated throughout the year with an End-of-the-Year Good Relative Award and goodie bag! Please join us in congratulating all of the award winners for being outstanding role models, showing Lakota values throughout the 2025–2026 school year, and making a difference each day.

Happy Birthday to our amazing team member, Carleyn Petersen! Carleyn is an all-around hand covering multiple projects with her main focus on our youth programs, Natural Helpers and the Good Relative Circle. In preparation for Carleyn's birthday, we asked our youth to answer a simple question, Describe Carleyn in one word. Responses back from students ranged from awesome-sauce, understanding, cool, joyful, caring, smart, kind, and we really couldn't agree more! Carleyn is all these things we are so lucky to have her on our team. Happy Birthday!
