I am a foster mom, fostering currently for 4 different rescues who have pulled from a West Tennessee high-kill shelter. I have fostered different breeds. I love the elders, but have fostered as young as 7 months old. I have foster failed 2 already. I had a 15 year old Border Collie returned to my foster care 3 different times and an 8 year old Basset returned to my foster care 2 times. I am not a
501c3, but have several in my care currently that I have rescued. I have limited space, therefore I do not foster too many at one time. I do have an aggressor, who does not socialize with the other fosters now. I spend 1 on 1 time with each foster each day. I do require help at times from the rescue for food costs and gas expense to take the medical ones to the vet. Other than that, I do out of pocket. (toys, beds, bowls, leashes, collars, etc...) I have a wonderful family who supports me and helps whenever necessary. I offer to foster for any rescue pulling from the high-kill shelters in NW Tennessee. My mission is to give these sweet babies another chance at life and love. Lady came to me on July 17th, 1996. When I first saw her, she was an absolute mess at 5 weeks old. She kept jumping into my car. After the 4th or 5th time, I said "Well, looks like you are going home with me." This sweet yorkie/feist mix little girl stood by my side through a lot. She was ran over by a speeding vehicle while chasing her tennis ball one night around 10 p.m. Her vet met me at the hospital and went straight to work on her. He told me, over the course of about 3 weeks, that she would not make it. She stayed there for almost 7 weeks. She had a broken tail, broken hip, busted spleen, 3 broken ribs and a punctured lung. About 2 years after that, she had woke me up when our house caught on fire. We lost everything in that fire. I was the only one at home at that time. The insurance company claimed a total loss. She has been through a lot of stuff with me, never once leaving my side. On August 22nd, 2013, my sweet Lady Bug took her last breath in my lap at the age of 17. I tried so very hard for a few months before to emotionally prepare for her passing, though you can never truly prepare for that kind of loss. I know she is playing over that Rainbow Bridge. Lady Bug is the reason I chose to start doing something, and where better to start than fostering? I believe that Lady is what pushed me to look at my 1st foster's picture, Ms Bella Sue (who is becoming one of my failures). I truly believe that Lady wanted me to help these other furbabies, just as I helped her, 17 years ago. So, this is Lady's Legacy.
