Tri Kappa Associate Chapter of Dyer, Schererville, St John

Tri Kappa Associate Chapter of Dyer, Schererville, St John Tri Kappa is a 501(c)(3) organization bringing women into close, unselfish relationship for the promotion of charity, culture, and education.

Kappa Kappa Kappa was founded in 1901 by seven young ladies attending the Girls’ Classical School founded by May Wright Sewall in Indianapolis. To ensure that Tri Kappa would continue beyond their school days each member was to start a chapter in her hometown. No one of that small group would have believed that Kappa Kappa Kappa would become a thriving organization composed of Active and Associate

chapters across Indiana. Tri Kappa was later incorporated and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. To our knowledge, it is the only Greek letter organization limited by the boundaries of one state. On a statewide level, Tri Kappa in part, supports the Riley Children's Foundation, the Cheer Guild servicing Riley Hospital, Camp Riley, Ronald McDonald House, Best Buddies of Indiana, Hoosier Salon, academic scholarship awards, fine arts scholarship awards, non-traditional scholarship awards, "Math Counts" at Rose Hulman University, the "We the People" program, and the Beryl Showers Holland Fellowship at Indiana University. Locally, chapters support many more groups both financially and with their time and talents. Tri Kappa gives away approximately $1.5 million annually throughout the state.

A healthy baby was safely surrendered in the Baby Box in the Plum Creek Schererville fire station this week! Here are some pictures from the press conference today. Our sorority is so grateful to so many for making this box a reality. Thank you to the mother who make this tough, but loving decision for her child.

A proud day! Mike Andrade, State Representative for District 12, came to present our sister Colleen DeVries with a special award for her service and dedication in Northwest Indiana Community. With Colleen’s vision and leadership, our associate chapter was able to raise the money needed for a Safe Haven Baby Box (over $15,000) and make this dream a reality. ( And all during a pandemic) The Baby Box is located at Fire Station # 2 in Plum Creek in Schererville. Thank you Colleen!
