Thursday of Kids Kamp 2026 was interesting with multiple guest out to help the kids get even more energy pumping through their veins. Along with regular kamp play time our kampers had a relay with Mr Mann's PE Course, they had a taste of what they would experience at Sweat Factory with Shayla of Shayla Loring Photography and conman, they got to paint rocks with Ms. Jill Mann that we hid in the park that day for our community kids to find and re-hide and flag football with some of our own Dwight Township High School #230 Trojan Football players!

We need to send a huge thank you out to out Kids Kamp Sponsors, volunteers and staff as well as our extra helpers for helping to make this day so memorable for these kids!

Kids Kamp 2026 Continued...

On Wednesday our 5-8th grade Kampers had the opportunity to take a bus trip to Bowl Mor in Streator for Bowling, Arcade Games and Pizza.

This trip as well as other elements of Kamp were sponsored by SOCU and along with helping us fund the trip they sent some of their awesome employees over to volunteers to help keep things moving.

We want to give them a huge thank you for all they support in our community especially Kids Kamp.

If you didn't already know this, it has to be shared...
YOUR KIDS LOVE BINGO!
I never would have guessed it but this was a huge hit!
I am sad to report that the videos of the cheering and all of the noises with the "oh man", etc. when they were so so close to that BINGO was just hilarious. The ups and downs of the game were entertaining for all. This might have been in part due to the awesome prize table, who knows but the energy in the room was an experience at Kamp for sure. We had a well stocked table between Randy Irvin and his hunt for deals along with their family donations, Dwight Harvest Days donations and what was gifted by the Hot Rod Club these kids went home with water guns, board games, card games, random toys, stickers, candy, model cars, hats, hot wheels and more.
This was a much needed break from the heat. After being out in the hot sun for a bit waiving to the Hot Rod Drivers, passing out goodies bags and custom magnets while others decorated the walkways with chalk art our lovely lunch of ham and turkey sandwiches, fruit and punch along with the AC were a nice ending to the day.

Again we want to thank the Wollgast Family (William and Sally Wollgast) for their generous Donation that helped us with meals and entertainment through out Kamp, the VFW Post 2608 “The Beachead” for the use of the Hall and the Parking lot, our volunteers and staff along with the parents and guardians who come to assist us with these little ones during the kamp day.

If you didn't notice the parades of vintage vehicles cruising town on multiple roadways last week, well you missed quite a show.

Rumor had it that The Hot Rod Power Tour 2026 would be rolling through Dwight on Tuesday June 9th so obviously that's where we needed to move Kamp for the day.

Our President and teammate, Randy Irvin, designed custom souvenir magnets and ordered a ton of nostalgic candy creating over 1,000 goodie bags to be given to the drivers as they cruised Our Kids Kamp Drive Thru. Many of these guys and gals had to go a bit out of their way to come through Kamp but they did and we were so very thankful! The kids took turns waiving flags and passing out the treat bags while decorating the lot with their chalk art.

You wouldn't believe how many of these hot rod car club members donated hot wheels, other miniature model cars, sticker sand treats to our day of fun. These added even more interest to our already over stocked prize table to be won during Randy's big game of Bingo that all the kids enjoyed in the air conditioning after lunch.

We want to send a huge shout out to all parties who mad ethis a special day including the VFW Post 2608 “The Beachead” who was kind enough to donate the use of the mess hall and half of their parking lot for our day of Kamp. Please be sure to show your support out at one of their many events.

The Dwight Alliance 2026 Kids Kamp has come to an end.

Sorry for the delay folks... having some technical difficulties and a lot of pics to go through so pictures will be posted a few at a time through the end of the week.

For those of you who do not know, The Dwight Alliance is now on its third year of inviting our community kids to join us for a free afternoon of fun and food where ever we plan to hold Kamp.

Each year has been a bit different due to volunteer and location changes, park construction, etc and this year was no exception. Instead of every Wednesday through the months of June and July we decided to get it all crammed into one solid week of fun.
From what we can tell the opinion is unanimous and this has been the best Kamp year yet.

Monday is always kind of our meet and greet day. It's a chance for our committee chairs, volunteers, staff and our Kampers to get to into the grove that is Kids Kamp. The kiddos get into groups based on their grade levels and are assigned a Team Lead to move them through the day.

We do not have too many pictures from this day because, well, we were just busy with our kampers and all else that needs attention. The kids enjoyed a couple silly games like red light- green light, tag, kickball, park play and watercolor I spy before lunch was served. Monday's dish of the day was pizza from Dwight Pizza & More, along with a selection of fruit and water.

The kids had a blast, reconnected with classmates, made some new friends and as you can see our staff enjoyed themselves as well.

Anyone that will be new to Kamp in the Summer of 2027 please note that all Kampers Must be Preregistered so be sure to follow our pages, keep a look out in your child's school backpack and check with the Prairie Creek Public Library District who are always gracious enough to help us distribute and collect completed registration forms.
