August 12th, the Dwight Rotary members was visited by our friend Mr. Brett Weiss. Mr. Weiss Is The Founder Of Ascend Kenya. It Is a Program That Helps Young Kenyans To Go To High School & also Opportunities For College.

Lewis Is One Of Those Young People who received assistance through Ascend Kenya. We were interested in this visit because The Dwight Rotary Actually Helped A Young Lady Through High School. just recently.

It was great to visit with our friends again.

June 24, 2026 was the date the Rotary Club of Dwight chose to hold the election of new officers for the 2026-2027 Rotary Year.

But first Outgoing President McCoy addressed the club members prior to swearing in Donald R. McClarey as President. Let us let the photos tell the story.

I should mention that Dale and his wife Deb once again hosted a Club Picnic in their home. Members contributed a dish to pass.

We should also recognize Maggie, President Earl and Gail's Daughter. She is a school psychologist and attends Rotary while home as a club guest. We thank her for her lovely photographs.

We Just want to remind everyone again, that the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus has CANCELLED their performance date with us.

The reason, is a sad one: the State of Illinois has passed a law that our preforming entities cannot have 'wild animals' in their programs. Therefore they will not keep their August 16th date with us.

So sorry -- this is an activity we have enjoyed bringing to Dwight.

It was a pleasure to visit with ADG Mary!
This Past Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at The Dwight Rotary Club, Mary Hodson (Assistant District Governor) Was Our Guest Speaker. She Presented Us With The Yearly Flag.

Rotary President chose "Create Lasting Impact" Olayinka Hakeem Babalola said, “As members of Rotary, we share a vision of a better future,” he said. “To make this vision a reality, we must acknowledge and unleash the change within ourselves.”

On May 20, 2026 our guest was The Deputy Police Chief Gary Beier. His purpose today is to give the members an update on Dwight Police Department and to also talk about the National Night-Out event in August.
Rotary members voted to donate $250 to the August Event.

We can certainly say that the event called Rotary Youth Leadership Conference (RYLA) was a successfor the Dwight Rotary Club. Seven Dwight High Students attended.

Monday, May 5, 2025 The Students That Went To RYLA Shared Their Experiences And Had Their Families With Them. Pizza 🍕 & Pop Was Served!!

These Young People Are Outstanding!!
The Event Was Held At The Blackbird Commons Building.
Speakers President Earl and Rotarian Andy had the program well in hand.

They have placed the event on such a pedistal this year. We hope we can hold that standard in future years.

Guest of Rotary April 29th, 2026 was Pastor Eric Morgan. He Has Been the Pastor of the 1st Congressional Church of Dwight For About 2 Years. He Was Randy's Guest At Last Week’s Rotary Meeting. He Is Interested in Joining the group At some time.

Wednesday, April 23rd, our guest speaker was Sharon Burkhart. She shared about Quilt Shows and How to Host a Quilt Show.
The Dwight Rotary is Thinking about hosting one during Harvest Day Weekend. We Thank Sharon for lending her expertise.

What an incredible weekend at the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) camp. It was truly inspiring to spend time at the camp and watch these students fully engage in the program and grow as young leaders. I can’t wait for you all to hear directly from them at our upcoming pizza party, date tbd.
As in past years, the program was exceptionally well organized, with age‑appropriate curriculum designed to prepare participants for future leadership roles. This year’s camp hosted 87 attendees, including six Rotary Exchange students—three from Brazil and one each from Finland, Denmark, and Germany.
It’s clear that RYLA continues to make a meaningful impact on the lives of these young adults. Thank you to everyone who supports this program. A special thank‑you to Josh Delong and Andy Pittenger for the time you dedicate to student selection, tuition support, registration, and communication. Our club's partnership with DTHS is critical to the success of the weekend. Thank you as well to Rodney and Destiny Connor for your generous scholarship donation.
