🇺🇸 Duryea American Legion Post 585 🇺🇸

We encourage our members, veterans, and community residents to visit the Traveling Vietnam Wall & "Cost of Freedom" Tribute at Nay Aug Park, 500 Arthur Ave., Scranton, from Friday, October 2 through Sunday, October 4.

This moving exhibit offers an opportunity for remembrance, reflection, and gratitude as it honors the brave men and women who served our nation from World War I through Operation Enduring Freedom. The Traveling Vietnam Wall serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by our veterans and their families.

Please take time to pay your respects and help ensure that the legacy of our nation's heroes is never forgotten.

Never Forget. Honor Their Service. Remember Their Sacrifice.

Today is National POW/MIA Recognition Day, and the Duryea American Legion Post 585 stands united in solemn remembrance of America’s prisoners of war and those missing in action.
As veterans and community members, we hold a sacred duty to honor the brave service members who never returned from the battlefield. Across every conflict, their sacrifices—and the painful uncertainty endured by their families—will never be overlooked.
Within our post, our Missing Man Table stands as a quiet, powerful sanctuary. Each symbolic element—the empty chair, the single rose, the lemon slice, and the inverted glass—reminds us of the comrades who are not here to sit with us today. We encourage the Duryea community to pause, reflect, and join us in keeping their memory alive, reaffirming our unbreakable vow: You Are Not Forgotten.
Devoted to mutual helpfulness and honoring our missing comrades.

Today, we remember the stolen lives of our fellow Americans 25 years ago. We also remember those who's lives were lost or changed forever, defending this country so we won't have to endure this again.
The world changed that day..... may we never forget that we can get through tough times. Let's also remember that it's much easier when we are united together. LEST WE NEVER FORGET!
