Johnny heard a tiny cry and followed it until he found her: wet, hungry, and alone. In that moment, compassion became action. He brought her home, gently cleaned her up, gave her a full belly. Before long, she had a name, a safe place, and someone who loved her. He called her Slow Mo. Johnny says caring for her makes him feel good.

With your support we assist informal rescuers like Johnny with resources to keep the pets they cherish healthy. We provided Slow Mo with vaccinations and dewormer. And scheduled her for spay surgery. Thank you for your donations that help us continue to be there for clients like Johnny and Slow Mo.

We’re thrilled to announce that Barktoberfest 2026 is happening! We have a new location, new partners, and a whole lot of people who stepped up to help make sure this event, and the critical fundraising it provides for Beyond Fences, can continue.

The last few days have been incredible. When we shared that Barktoberfest wouldn’t happen this year, we were overwhelmed by the messages, comments, offers of help and outpouring of support.

Thanks to all of you, to Boxyard RTP for accommodating us and providing the space at no cost, and to Triangle Canine Club for stepping in with logistics and event planning. We are grateful to the amazing community that supports Beyond Fences, and we cannot wait to celebrate with you.

We deliver veterinary services directly to the community. This helps ensure our unhoused neighbors can receive veterinary care for their pets. Below Dr Ejezie recently visited with Bella and her owner to provide a wellness exam and vaccinations. We also scheduled Bella for a spay appointment. Thank you for supporting our Outreach Program helping us continue to provide community veterinary care to those who need it most.

Poor Swade. The summer heat has caused miserable skin irritation and an ear infection. Thankfully, Dr. Carter prescribed some medications to get him feeling better. Thank you for supporting our Outreach & Wellness Program helping ensure we can be there to provide much needed relief to pets like Swade.

In 2007 we built a fence for twelve-year-old Dee, pictured then left with is dog Fluffy. Nearly 20 years later, Dee, pictured recently right with his grandma's dog Bailey, now works part-time for Beyond Fences, delivering supplies to pet owners in the community. We are honored to build lasting relationships with clients like Dee and to invite them into this work as active partners in caring for the pets they love.

Fourteen-year-old Roxie, pictured with her owner Demetrius and Beyond Fences' in-home vet Dr. Welch, hasn't been feeling well recently. She has lost her appetite and is losing weight. Dr. Welch ran some bloodwork and provided some medications to hopefully get Roxie feeling better.
Demetrius and Roxy have been our clients for over 10 years. Being there for clients like Demetrius as navigate care for their senior pets is an important part of our work. Thank you for your support that helps us be there throughout the lives of pets like Roxie.
